I started using devRant soon after I landed my first ever gig (internship) as a dev, and I've grown leaps and bounds since, and been almost a decade.

From a starting where I could barely manage my expense, to where I have saved enough to have a runway and have my own startup; yeah I am starting up...

Building something on the same lines as devRant for a completely different market...

    Sounds good, wish you luck. But I researched whole devRant. It never had more than 10.000 active users. It's a lot but too less to consider it really successful these days I guess. We're a niche. And while it's not the case, ranting would be considered as something negative. My observation that it attracted people that just actually do care about what they do with certain experience level.

    @whimsical today's mainstream social media will fucking shadowban the shit out your comment if it even slightly smells like being negative, let alone a rant. 😣

    @Lensflare yeah. While this platform shows so perfectly that everything will be Allright without nazi moderation.

    @Lensflare i saw some dude in a video posted to reddit that came from tiktok. The guy was calling for posting jokes about race so we could all laugh at ourselves. To me it was so naive and in a perfect world would have been fun. But as is on these platforms it would a lot of people banned for racist jokes.

    @whimsical well, it's having a much bigger market... it's related to gaming.

    Should I share it out here? I'd love opinions of gamers...

    @BugsBuggy I'd love a platform that I could bitch about poorly made games on.

    Anything steam-stats-esque would be great too.

    @Wisecrack the problem is I can't bitch about the things that would get me cancelled that are affecting gaming now. That whole ecosystem is infected now.

    Welcome back (my account is still older, HA).

    Considering devRant is closing doors soon, I’d like to check out your new community! Who knows, maybe a subset of it could be a space for developers like devRant was.

    @AlgoRythm devrant keeps trying to die, but someone keeps coming back and fixing things. So my guess is this is a portfolio project at this point. Though the spam filled days makes me wonder how good a show and tell that is. But both @retoor and @Lensflare have been working on decent solutions to fight spam. Right now @Lensflare's bots are keeping things not shitty for now.

    @AlgoRythm definitely, that's actually a great idea!

    @AlgoRythm my surveys about the idea is complete, but if you sign up for beta on this survey, I'd invite you as soon as we do open-beta (less than 1 month away)
