C0D4681456yWhy are you using JavaScript?
Use some other language that needs to be compiled back to JavaScript anyway and takes 4x the effort 😏 -
@C0D4 Let me tell you something new: there other programming languages that are not compiled back to JS, and guess what, sometimes it is required to use them, and Javascript is not the magic for every single platform

thatDude5546yIt's the same when you ask about any practical problem from the internet gurus.
A: I work at 10000 people IT corporation as the lowest level engineer. We are using SVN. How do I check changed files from the repo before update?
B: Dude, SVN is shit you have to use GIT
A: Well yeah, but this is what the company uses
B: Just switch to GIT!
A: Well yeah, but I cannot "just switch" in organization of hundereds of people. Standards, processes and all...
B: Haha, I would never work in such a lame company!
A: Well yeah, but this is the way that things work here. Where are you working then?
B: Haha, nowhere yet! I'm still in highschool. But when my pubic hairs start to grow, I will work in some cool startup as worshipped coding guru. They will probably start calling me soon, since I am so guru and experieced.
Son, welcome to the real world some day. -
I just had the "You should use vim" comment recently. The thing is, I DO use vim. But I don't use it for everything. For big, modular C++ projects with 50+ files, I need a decent IDE to be productive.

And then there is "The Linux Circle"(tm). No matter which distro and which problem you have, there will always be some wannabe smart dipshit who doesn't know the answer, but advises to use his distro. If you fall for that bait-and-switch, you will sooner or later go in a circle and arrive back at the original distro - still with the original problem, of course.

tokumei21316yTheir opinions are 100% right except you forgot that every language except Rust can go die in a dumpster fire.

Typical comment: this is meta post, you don't have nothing to say -
Parzi88336y@Fast-Nop It's usually "use Arch". I mean, hell, some packages only have install instructions for other distros stating "install pacman, tell it to do it" and you just wanna fuckING KILL SOMEBODY, FUCKING DEVKITARM i mean generic software for linux
-
Parzi88336yI just kinda... picked Python as it was almost English-like, didn't have the semicolon and bracket bullshit (except on super special occasions) and was easy to set up without installing on a school computer.
-
@Parzi application deployment under Linux has always been sucking (agreeing with Torvalds here) because the packet manager was never a good idea for applications. That's why containers came up as workaround.
-
Parzi88336y@irene WebKit is an Apple-made thing. It runs natively in Safari, Opera, and Firefox (kinda). Chrome and Edge have limited support for it, and IE has support for it but it's kinda weird and broken.
-
Parzi88336y@irene webkit has other uses, IIRC, and has some limited logic and such, so it could technically be used over Java/JS.
-
Parzi88336y@irene oh. It's been a long while since i've touched web stuff, so I was pretty hazy on the details. My bad, then.
-
Parzi88336y@irene Can't wait for actual web-based malware and web-based AVs with all these new physical access APIs, tbh. WebAssembly sounds neat, too.
-
Parzi88336y@irene don't give me that sass, boi, i'm messing with you. (Although it probably will happen.)
Anyway. -
@irene safe sandboxes aren't that safe after all because the new usage will increase the attack surface. We will see new security exploits with webassembly, always of the type "oh but that shouldn't have been possible".
-
Parzi88336y@irene that was not was I was on about. It's not low-level so it's not possible to be actual "assembly". I'm aware.

Noob64666yArchWindows user here.
As a respected Redditor with over 60kk Karma and the moderator of /r/lifecoaching I suggest using opaque themes for your IDE and only programming in C#, which is the fastest language that was granted to us by the great Bill Gates himself.
Python, like any other language without curly braces and semicolons, can not be taken seriously and should be destroyed!
Linux is obsolete since the day GNU/Windows was released. I like to laugh at all the Posix nerds while vaping and using my master race Frontpage IDE to build lightning-fast, scalable, printer-first, single-a4-page, web apps. -
I use Windows on my home machines, the thing I hate most about it aren't the adds everywhere... Its the fact that they ship with bloatware! I have so far paid £198 for two Windows Pro upgrades you'd think they could afford to leave out candy crush saga or Minecraft for Windows, I thought it was remnants of staring on Home, but I did a fresh install the other day and guess what, they were still there!!! Now I know this may sound like a joke to some, but if anyone knows how to install a 'minimal' version, please let me know.
