Wow, just found out music generation trough Suno through as Snek member (thanks new friend!).

It's amazing. First, I did want to amaze a friend and did something I doubted if it was a good idea but I extracted 15 years of his reddit history and gave Gemini the huge jsonl file and let it generate two songs about the positive aspects of his life. The songs were gorgeous. While the background music was very familiar of one of the songs, they were due the high amount of content specified to him very unique.

Success. Friend liked as well.

Then, in the end of the evening I had some frustrations just because of life in general. So, i started to write a document with some struggles over the last seven years. They're all connected but I was never really able to put it under words. I asked Grok (the most humane LLM) to connect the dots and write a song with those lyrics. I implemented them into Suno. Created several aggressive rap versions, and then some euro dance / hands up versions (groove coverage style) with kinda vibes my personality. Both actually do weirdly enough.

Suno gave me credits for 500 songs for around 10 euro, I understand why 500, because I already made 20 variations! I almost LOVE them all.

I just realize how hard other industries are hit, or will be hit, as hard as ours.

While I really hated the vibe coder without knowledge, I am now doing exactly the same with music and have so much fun. And as vibe coder who really likes his creations because he can't do it himself and has some lack of knowledge, me like this music too with probably the same reason; lack of knowledge, inventing something 'new'.

It's btw not allowed to prompt into the `style` box "Eminem" or something. So I used Grok to describe concise (since the style box only allows 1000 chars) the artist with the right style i wanted to have. Learned more about the genres I listened to.

So, I found some piece with the unknowledgeable (why i this not a valid word?) vibe coders and wish them all their happiness with their fabrications.

A vibe coder will maybe never be a programmer, I will never be a producer. But that does not mean we can't make some awesome stuff.

I think everyone has a kinda life story and it could be nice for yourself to make a song about it to process something, turn it into something beautiful.

Did transform this rant into lyrics and made some cool songs and listened them fully.

I have them all in MP3, what is a cool service where I can upload it and listen it myself using phone comfortably? Or do I have to write such thing myself? Can I use youtube for that maybe with some private playlist?

Never mind, will ask Perplexity :P What a beautiful world we live in.

Could actually make a service to turn rants into songs if Suno has an API. it's cheap as F anyway. There are some epic rants here. Juts combining some LLM's and whoop. Also, the reddit profile to music generator is an idea. So many ideas. Too much to execute. So many ideas how NOT to get richer :D

Hmm... music is different from programming. So a vibe coder having no idea what he's doing is much different from someone who hmm... 'vibes songs' may be the correct term, here.

Music can't break when used in unusual ways as is the case w/ programs. Also, music has no vulnerabilities... but you definitely know all that.

All that said, I'm glad you had fun w/ what seems to be a new experience.

I hate AI music so much

I can't find good music anymore because YouTube is just flooded with AI albums/mixes now and they all just sound so flat and bad. you can't stop the slop

@jestdotty I have no idea what you're talking about, i don't experience that at all. Not from slop in general. I think it has to do with people themselves when they face a lot of slop. Is it possible that certain people attract slop? I also see only videos ABOUT AI, not made WITH AI. I never know where people find that shit.

@D-4got10-01 thank you very much (L)

@jestdotty I know the pain, I usually immediately check if that if that artist/band has a wiki or a website with touring dates or an metal-archives.com or an instagram/facebook with actual pictures of them playing. It also feels that Spotify is really pushing a lot of 'unknown' bands.

I do feel bad for the newer bands and it does suck to find a great sounding band that seems to not exist

@retoor For a few months, I got a lot of AI slop about historical events with generic war footage. I do also get quite a bit of AI slop about financial stuff or AI background footage.

But those are either youtube shorts or youtube ads.

It's been some time since I got AI slop about historical events but now only AI slop about financian investments or AI crypto ads. My videos I watch have nothing to do with investments and they nearly all have sub 25 likes

@retoor I get them a lot when looking at music like maidcore, they won't use the maidcore moniker though, but not so much on nightcore.

For those that just went WTF is maidcore, here you go: https://youtube.com/watch/...

    Enjoy

@wojtek322 oh the war stuff, actually, I think I have that too. Also full length docus? I have such weird full length war docus so extremely biased like unrealistic. Or is that actual propoganda? I have no idea anymore.

@wojtek322 I have been fed a lot of YouTube AI generated channels reading Reddit posts. Started dislike-ing them so I don't see them anymore. I remember consuming long form videos of voice over Reddit in 2020, and even then they were... lacking every so often. Like, reading numbers wrong or cutting sentences.
My take is, it's gonna be hard to _find_ new quality content. Or at least, it won't be possible to make quality content on areas AI slop takes over, like sharing cool Reddit posts. I know this content is lame, but who knows what content comes next...
Kurzgesagt made a video about something similar some weeks ago. Well, not similar, but it mentioned the "competition" between AI slop and quality content... hm... putting it this way, it's not something new, really. But I just recently experienced it, beyond _knowing_ about it.

I really like Suno. I made a couple songs some time ago. About uploading to YouTube, did you know you can download them as videos? It's true! Tho' you may be careful about the new regulations as to what content can be used commercially.

@c3r38r170 Oh yeah, those channels were fun for some time. Rslash is still doing a good job at it.

I do wonder if those youtubers can be linked to a decrease in literacy amongst younger people

Even one of the biggest WW2 youtubers made a video that is anti-AI https://youtube.com/watch/...

@retoor shamanic music, psytrance, EDM, synthwave

they don't have artists or names anymore

there's just tons of channels like this that upload 1-2 hour videos every 3 days

sometimes it's ok but it's soulless. like you think something is gonna happen but it's all off which is really annoying. so bland. nothing happens
