    Even if it was true, another search engine would appear to take its place, although it would take some time for it to become as relevant as DDG is now. Remember what happened when a Chinese company bought almost 50% of the shares of Opera Software?

    @kamen For better or worse, Opera market share is between 2-3%, and has been between 2-3% for the last 2 decades. I'm still puzzled as to whom that browser exactly caters to.

    I think DDG has way more on the line though, as pretty much everyone who uses it really has a stake, either for practical or ideological reasons, in keeping their search queries private.

    But hey, Yandex search is pretty good. At least your searches for lewd furry pictures will be on the servers of the Russian FSS instead of the NSA 🤷‍♂
