I dont understand how aptitude for coding competitions actually translates to real life. What if the job is for a web dev, or front end?

My friend and I had a business idea... We wouldn't actually do anything, just give potential hires a project and have them do it for us, then never hire anyone! It's brilliant. No way it could fail.

I know a guy who had an 'at home' assessment. He was told to recreate x-website. He did it and never heard back from them.
