I think 15 was when I first touched any kind of code. 16/17 was when I properly got into it

I was 15 when I thought "Hey, knowing how to code would be pretty cool" and that was it. At 16 I actually started to learn Java, didn't take a week before I knew I want to make a living with this.

11 I started with programming lego robots in NQC ( some c thing) then at
13 some pretty basic stuff in python at school and then at
16 I started working as a junior dev in the holidays :) I don't know what most people would consider "started coding"

Around 12

Lego mindstorms around 8-9. C++ and python around 11-12. Java at 14

14 when I first touched a hello world in Visual Basic. That's all about that. I had no idea what the fuck our teacher was talking about. I was more into Photoshop & Cheat Engine back then. 18 was when I entered college and learned what programming and coding really is.

Short story longish: Started at 16-19, and then put it on the shelf for "soul searching" (or whatever); then I took it up again at 26. I'm soon to be 27 and don't believe this is a particularly good path to take, but I still find it satisfying to code and learn about CS and programming.

Early teens. I don't remember exactly but it's over 30 years for me. That's right, I'm fucking old.

Around 9, commodore64, using sprites to make a simple rogue like adventure game. I spent all of my birthday savings and chore earnings on a tape drive.

When I was 11 I started with HTML and PHP/FI on a 486, and used qbasic/vba on win95 (because it was basic dialect like C64), soon after that Pascall, Python and C/C++. Around 14-15 I learnt Lisp and Haskell, and later Javascript.

At 25 I picked up Ruby, some Java and C# (just the basics). Quite recently (32) I've started on Rust and Go.

14 - apple hyperscript *shudder*, then Casio calculators basic, then much more...

My dad taught me BASIC when I was 8 and that started a whole chain of events that eventually led me here. :)

@arcadesdude HyperCard was the f***ing shit! Man I miss that thing.

@devios1 yeah man! I made a working calculator and some linked documents and stuff that was similar to early html stuff. Having the buttons and stuff to click on was neat. I did have an old floppy around but didn't find my hypercard stuff on it when I checked years ago...nostalgia!
