Spent 5 hours working on a solution for a hash difficulty comparison/scaling algorithm. after a bunch of different iterations and approaches, I find that my problem can be solved by the attached equation. Its such a simple answer but no way in hell would you be able to discern the amount of time and brainpower that was put into it. The git commit is literally 10 lines of code total, but I guess its not about the amount of code, but the time spent thinking about it thay counts?6

So it’s feast or famine as a freelancer. I went from just a couple active clients to three new clients and four new proposals to write for new prospects. Discovering the limits of my productivity and brainpower at the moment.2

This shit is fascinating, especially reading about the variations in function of the various brodmann areas:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
My favorite schizo-interpretation of this is "your head is full of bees."
i.e. brodmann area 10, which is thought to be responsible for memory recall strategies (basically an adaptive memory allocator and heap) has about 250 million neurons in a pinprick of a volume.
A bee has about 1 million neurons.
In otherwords: the part of your brain that decides how memory is managed has only the equivalent brainpower of 250 bees, lol.
Obviously a simplification-to-the-level-of-absurdity but it's fun to intentionally interpret something to the level of distortion.8 -
Oh Lord give me the strength and the brainpower to step a way from freelancing or at least overcome the humongous pile of shite tied to the aforementioned barely lucrative activity.
AMEN !!
Recently got a client. We had an agreement on requirements, deadlines and on pricing. It's a job that can be done in a week if all the resources are at hand.
He reaches back a couple of days later and says :
Him: Listen I am on an intermediate...
Me: Mmhmm.
Him: I had a talk with the actual owner and he can only pay you in June.
Me: I see, but that I can't do. That means if the website is live by the 15th I'll have to wait for 2 weeks at least before getting paid.
You'll have to come up with something that makes more sense.

Finding a stored procedure to copy code out of because I didn’t have the brainpower or willpower to write the same code again.
Ironically, finding the sProc probably took more time than actually rewriting it.....1 -
You know how each generation is taught more and more advanced stuff? My grandparents didn't have a clue about the the things my parents were learning at school. My parents could only catch up with my school course until like 7-8 class. Considering this trend we should have no idea about half the things our kids will be learning in higher classes.
However, since AI is taking its pace, schools are adapting and starting to use it for teaching, workplaces are leveraging it to rely on employees' brainpower and skill less and less,... I wonder if we won't see a downtrend. I wonder if we won't be the smartest generation who managed to ingest so much knowledge, and all the generations to come will only focus on mastering prompt engineering.
I wonder, how long will we survive with this dumbed down society... As the primal instinct is to overcome your opponent with greater force, possibly destroying it and everything around. And less educated tend to rely on primal instincts more.
I wonder if I'll live long enough to see Idiocracy [the movie] manifest in real life.
I know I refer to Idiocracy movie more often than anyone refers any other movie here. But it just hits too close to home too often. It might look like a silly something to spend time staring at, but man.. It's got one hell of a point2 -
Random thought while upgrading schema and manually recreating 100+ rows table; when looking for a job, make sure you look for one where company focuses on employing brainpower, not manpower.. 🤦♂️ 🙄

downside of being magically healed by people is I don't have the brain to learn magic (maybe it's the drugs honestly...) so I'm ravenously dependent on this guy to do another round so I can gain more brainpower
fucking hell
I don't like dependence
also every time he does this I feel like I've been sutured for 1-3 days. and I gotta be careful and not pull at them. how the hell do you do that with a brain? that's gonna be so fucking bad. "just don't think at 145 iq horsepower" tehe.
AND he says it's experimental. and what the fuck he says he's only this good at healing due to past mistakes... I might end up a vegetable. but I'm already a fucking vegetable. fuck
upside, he fixed my nervous system back to having endurance for emotions and stress so I'm not fucked up from thinking all this. yay some resilience for once after 3 years of hell
one guy thinks I survived a paradoxical collision of time magic. that doesn't make sense why the shit would I have hit a fucking time traveling universe. then he changed his mind thinking failed possession. this makes more sense to me but who the fuck would've wanted to possess me. fucking Christ. and could they not have melted my nervous system having tried to do so. mean as shit.
I still think it was a hex. I think it was a death hex actually.
thanks for coming to the weirdest shit ever Ted episode
my tarot cards basically say good luck, too. nothing happened. you had a bunch of energy, you made a bunch of money, now you can sit at home and think about stuff, effect the world with yourself as you see fit, and either be a judgemental prick or a righteous prick. this is basically a retirement plan.5 -
writing a basic 2 javascript translator now in Java. Great fun and not to much brainpower needed...4

Realizing that coding isn’t actually how it’s like in the movies where you got 3 monitors and 2 keyboards using both hands to make vertical green lines move, and instead it’s just you painstakingly using your brainpower to figure out how to do some random thing while going to stackoverflow every 11 minutes is the “SANTA ISNT REAL?!” of the programming community2
