I "Git Pushed" my friend to "git commit" with a girl he likes for long time
But now my other friend wants to "git rebase" on top of her ....WTF
Now need to resolve this merge conflict 😂😂😂7 -
What is your "WTF" commit message you see in your project?
For my case my Junior wrote this "Hey, Senior can I f** your girl for one night?" which lately he got fired as I showed that to my Manager.29 -
an 18 year old youtube multimillionaire known as McSkillet lost $200,000 on csgo skins and $700,000 gambling and trading csgo skins so he fell into depression. he took his $265,500 McLaren supercar and ran into the highway in opposite direction to commit suicide, but in doing so he also killed a mom and a 12 year old girl from the car collision explosion.
life is very hard to be an 18 year old teenage millionaire, better commit suicide instead.
how do you guys feel about this?32 -
There was this uni project where the teacher gave us a project to work as a team (the entire class, 17 people). We were meant to use Scrum, and deliver the first release in 1 week.
Turns out no one except me did the work, and this went on in the upcoming sprints, even with me telling the teacher what was going on.
Then, one day, a girl (let's call her Rose) did a commit to git, and I thought that something as going to change...She committed and push a new line at the end of a file.
After 2 months, the project was done. I had done 4k+ lines of Java EE + Hibernate + JSP code (which was very difficult to me) and the grading came out. I got a 7... most of the rest of the class got an 8 or 9. They did nothing.
When questioned by me, teacher said (it was a group project...)
TL;DR: I did the work of 17 people in a university project, got the worst grade of them all.12 -
Company has a severe lack of fresh blood.
"let's recruit everyone who has an IQ over room temperature and barely passes the mark".
Me protesting bloody murder cause I know that the idea is not just profoundly dumb, but frustration from high staff turnover takes a toll on *everyone*.
"nah can't be that bad".
Then the discussion started who could do monitoring and mentoring, so we can sort out the bad apples *quickly*.
Me reminding again that this is exactly what leads to a high staff turnover, as this is nothing else than "hire, hire - quickly fire".
Guess who won the award of being the mentor / monitor ....
*drum roll*
Come on, I know you would NEVER expect this.
Let me surprise you: M E.
Yeah. They chose the person that was absolutely against this idea...
Because that person is "most qualified for the task at hand and has the necessary qualifications".
Today was the first 4 h workshop with a new recruit.
The Lord has had zero mercy on me.
I started to mute myself after 30 minutes in regular intervals to just scream and curse the world.
How profound dumb a person can be amazes me.
Person has had a "very expensive 6 month boot camp course".
I was close asking if the boot camp course was in watching porn and wanking their brain cells out....
Git... Yeah he knew what he was doing...
Except that he messed up every commit by either not sticking to the companies format or - what I found funny the first 2 times, then not so much anymore - just writing a git commit message like a 15 year old teenage girl would write to their diary.
Programming. Oh yeah. He should be a programmer.
He had much Bootcamp.
Bootcamp expensive. Bootcamp good.
If someone is unable to iterate over an iterator... And instead starts creating an integer based array of a map's key name to then fetch the map value in an for loop based on the created key array.
Yeah. Bootcamp much good.
Creating DTOs...
It took an hour to write a DTO with him... Cause constructors are hard and it's even harder when you have to explain primitive datatypes in Java, null safety, constructors, NPEs, final, ...
Like really no experience at all.
The next week's will be amazing.
Either I get a valium drop or I'm gonna blow my head off, cause mentoring will drain the last bit of hope I had left in me.
Note that I do not blame the recruit (yeah he's dumb. But he has ZERO work experience, so it's not unexpected), I'm just too fed up with getting the poo crown despite being against the whole process.
I think the recruit could make it..........
But that I got the shittiest job ever is really haunting me.
I dunno how I survive the next weeks.
And this is just the first recruit... There will be more.2 -
Being a front end developer and working in a team of motivated "full stack" developers sucks big time.
So, recently joined this new company with a very small project which just started, basically a cloud version of a really old desktop app. Few people from the team completely from the asp dotnet background decided the architecture few months before I joined in.
So, they did it something like this -
- mono repo dotnet project with VueJs app served within it (because that would be maintainable 😑)
- vue app served by pointing the built files through dotnet index file (simply because they didn't care about the gift to the front end world which is webpack or even had any knowledge about it 😑)
- added typescript because, u know it's cool 😑, without even knowing that they don't possess that team which know how to write the types (f***ers write classes for every payload object coz they don't know what interfaces are)
- no loader to load typescript, they are running tsc in watch mode and we have .js and .js.map for every .ts file in our project which some teammates are even pushing to repo
Recently, I added eslint with git hooks to the project so that everyone will at least stick to the coding standards. Now, to avoid the errors they are bypassing the git hooks by uninstalling the library and then installing it after the commit😂😂
Then we have a girl who uses document.getElementById to programmatically change styles in a Vue project😑😑😑😂
Then we have dotnet people using dotnet coding conventions all over the front end app.
People, how do I deal with these so called "full stack" people?12 -
let me preface with the fact that I'm now known at my new job for being the resident cli hipster. I can't lay any claims to knowing if it's "better" but I like it, I don't care if you do or don't, it just works for me and my flow
so at my job, we generally squash all our commits into one commit and delete the source branch upon merging; i accidentally committed all my work to an old, already merged branch, so my boss tells me it would be more of a PITA with the weird references we would encounter by merging the branch again, rather than just cherry pick the commits into a new branch, which i'm like "eh, fine.".
HIM: "You want to share your screen so we can resolve this?"
ME: "k"
HIM: "Oh, you won't be able to do this in a terminal, you are going to have to load up a GUI of some sort"
ME: "lawlz, no you don't"
HIM: "i highly doubt you will be able to accomplish that, but if you wanna make an ass of yourself, i'll humor you"
ME: "yeah, watch this"
> git log > log.txt
> git checkout <new branch>
> git cherry-pick <copy-paste-full-commit-hash-here>
> git push
ME: "done"
HIM: "what? there's no way you did it that easily, where are all your other commits???"
ME: "i usually try to amend my commits since we squash them anyhow. it really helps in situations like this"
HIM: "well, you go girl"
roll that up in your fancy degree and smoke it, why don't ya?2 -
Im on a Team Project on my University, I'm so salty because a girl on my team yesterday got angry with me because I committed when she was working on something, and that she doesn't like how I code.
2 hours later she made a giant commit with so many unnecessary code and removed working functionality and changed to a nonsense interface all because she was mad with me, now the code doesn't work and it's ugly and she is mad.
I cannot handle it 😭3
