In our self-developed intranet, i added a hidden script that fires an 'event' when you enter the konami code.
Said event it's simply turning thw screen contrast to 200% and play the audio of 'omae wa mou shindeiru'.
I was planning to make some more of those, but i don't have the time to do them ;_;6 -
Grumpy cat was in a lot of our internal products, on loading screens and what not, because why not? PM got pissed and said if he sees that fucking cat again blah blah blah. Grumpy cat is now summoned with a Konami code. Grumpy cat will never die.2

I was fiddling around on a website for a bar near me with an arcade. Friends and I already discovered that you could input the konami code on the homepage and be brought to a little easter egg with a chance to win a free beer, free pizza, or nothing.
This evening I was looking at the site a little more and decided to try to find the js code they're using to manage this because I thought it was an ingenious idea. When Looking at the source, I found this little gem. I'm very pleased and wish I had built this site.2 -
I've been using DDG now for quite a while and as most of you that did too, I enjoyed it for most of the ride, though me and many others that I recommended the duck to, had themselves using the "!g" bang much more than it was worth to be using DDG.
It's amazing for "most" things, like a quick search and especially code related questions, thanks to the stackoverflow embeds, but it still sucks at search results for those other searches.
Just recently I've hit startpage again, they were quite awkward to use imho in the past, but they did an entire redesign and have added advanced options which are nearly non existent in google anymore without knowing the secret konami code to access e.g. "in-title".
So now I am switching between DDG and Startpage and thought I'd share, because finally there's a proper way to ditch google (except if you want some very localized results or use a lot googles in results math {which DDG can too, just not startpage}).
It easily integrates into most browsers too and on android you can just make use of the custom search engine adding in firefox mobile.
Qwant was another option I thought to use, but startpage simply proxies the google results, which were literally the fallback issue for so long - Qwant iirc runs their own and also is often times pretty laggy on mobile from my testing.

Got a strange thing today in class, as a teacher in programming. We have a lab where the computers haven't yet their final configuration ended, so the user used by the students is the administrator of the computer. And today, a student calls me and tell "sir, the password isn't the one you gave to us" (temporary the same for each machine until we fix the configuration).
Go to student's place, password incorrect with a hint "you know the code : up, up, down, down... oh, you don't know, huh? Too old! Too bad!"
Password was - off course - "konami".
But... how a student born in 1997 can think he can troll me with the konami code?!
He wasn't even born when I played on the NES as kid!
Sometimes I'd like to teach my students how to fly by tossing them by the windows...1 -
I made the Star Wars Crawl using vanilla web tech and show it on my website once the Konami Code is entered.
IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS, WHY WOULD I DO THIS? I always end up doing random mini-projects that amuse me but bring litteraly no added value to my work. 😂😭 -
Do you need the Konami code in your life? A simple (read as: doesn't have to be entered in perfectly), un-refactored (very messy, first pass by pretty tired dev. probably full of extra, slow crap that is misspelled), IIFY to add the Konami code to your next personal site (don't do this at work, might not go over well...). could be fun?
```(() => { const konami = ['ArrowUp','ArrowUp','ArrowDown','ArrowDown','ArrowLeft','ArrowRight','ArrowLeft','ArrowRight','b','a']; let keysPressed = []; document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].addEventListener('keyup',(e) => {const findAllIndicies = target => {const allIndicies = []; keysPressed.forEach((key, idx) => {if (key===target) {allIndicies.push(idx)}}); return allIndicies;}keysPressed.push(e.key);if(keysPressed.length >= 10) {const startingPoints = findAllIndicies('ArrowUp'); startingPoints.forEach(point => {const working = keysPressed.slice(point); if (working.length >= 10) { const miniSlice = working.slice(0,10); const check = konami.filter(k => !miniSlice.included(k)); if (check.length === 0) { keysPressed = []; ADD_SOMETHING_COOL_HERE_FOR_YOUR_WEBSITE}}})}})})()```7
