I have code convention OCD.

My team really fucked up the code with their different indentation styles, and it really makes me want to kill them!! 😡😡😠

Why even complain about tabs....

I swear this mofo runs all of my code through pylint, he comments about every PEP8 inconsistency and every formatting decision he doesn't like.

Same guy also got in a small debate with one of our converts from the older project where they used C#, because he still writes everything in Windows-style CamelCase. After that, when we needed to decide on a password for a shared thing, I came up with "camel_case".

Dear Python linters, why can't any of you implement some actual linting features? Like, say, consistent use of single or double quotes? Or dict() vs {}? How about indenting nested function calls? Forcing list / set / dict literals as multiline? Trailing commas?

And while I'm at it, why can't you handle dependencies properly? Say, separating linter & linter plugins from the remaining dependencies in a way where I don't have to manually remove them from the requirements lockfile every time?

I enjoy Visual Studio, but the installer is GARBAGE.

My install of 2017 didn't come with a certain package, so I go to the installer to add it. Thing constantly fails with "could not find file" in the txt log. Decided I might as well update studio while I'm here. Turns out I had python packages for it too, since during this update python decided to have a fit in another project because modules and pylint suddenly disappeared.

Wtf?

So it's been a long semester and I was writing my final project earlier today. I wrote a for loop which removed objects from the list it was iterating through. And my linter let me. Why do I even use you, pylint? I could have saved hours of debugging if you gave me a message that I was doing a stupid thing

When using python, almost every other linter/formatter shoves down pep8 down my throat.

I used autopep8, which has NO CONFIG FOR USING TABS. FFS. The only solution I could find is disabling indent reformatting. How is this a solution at all?

Then I found black. Black is a piece of shit. Let's move on.

Now, I use yapf+pylint. This is basically clang-fomat for python. I love it, it does exactly what I expect it to do.

VScode pylint is that friend who suddenly goes mad and doesn't know why...
