For me it has got to be Retroarch/Libretro (or as I've taken to call it etc.).
Retoarch is a frontend for Libretro which is an API that emulator developers can use so that I as the user don't have to worry about configuring each emulator (and some other stuff).
It's a godsend piece of software that makes it possible for someone like me to really just enjoy my (but but expanding) library of old games (that I can only dream of playing on original hardware)
Also, it's multiplatform!
I also tagged it as wk119 since this is my school setup2 -
Normal people spend their holiday weekend with friends and family. I spent it bisecting RetroArch to figure out exactly when a Wii U crash bug started happening.
(I exaggerate. There was plenty of friends and family time)2 -
Dear Manjaro,
Retroarch as the primary emulator frontend?
What the fuck?
Not Emulationstation, not literally anything else?! 😐
- Sincerely, Disappointed. -
Looking for recommendations:
I have a retropie set up in the living room TV that my parents play. They want an arcade-style joystick. It needs to be wireless, preferably not bluetooth. Known compatibility with retropie is a plus. Four buttons a plus, two is required.11 -
why are there no other systems with emulators that have a debug suite as good as BGB's? The only thing even close is Bizhawk, which runs like ass (or not at all) on Linux through Wine, but even that's still not close.
Am I really gonna have to make a ROM patcher or some shit for RetroArch using cheat files to get ANY editability for half the systems out there?
