I'm adding content to a schools moodle for an online CS course I am creating. The dev thought it would be a good idea to have 250+ page requests so I get to wait for 10seconds everytime I click the next button.
Still no response to my email asking him to uglify and concat.
At least I'm getting paid by the hour.

Some people don't have to uglify their code. It's unreadable by default.

TL;DR: if you are using using react native, use uglify-es@3.2.2, any newer version might break your project

I love javascript, but packaging really is its downfall.

I spent half of the day trying to make the Grunt script of my node project which uses ECMAscript 6 (Harmony) and make compatible with Uglify-JS by using Babel... Then I found there was a branch of Uglify-JS for Harmony and I only had to update my dependency which took me 2min -_-

Question to the frontend devs: I'm currently trying to optimize part of our JS. How do sourcemaps influence loading/rendering Speed in the Browser?

In the `webpack.config.js` we use uglify as minimizer for js. It has the option `sourceMap` Set to `true`. Now as I understand it, this caused it to Inline a sourcemap inside the JS file (which leads to a slightly bigger file size and thus longer load time for the generated file...).

My Question: should sorcemaps be enabled for prod (minified) files? Why yes, why no? Do they help the browser parse the JS faster?

When gulp build (expressjs + browsersync + browserify + uglify + gzip + gulp-zip + gulp-tar) perfectly compiles your code, minify and concat all js, gzipped them, minify images, package the files into a .zip and .tar... and refresh your browser 😍

People! Do you know if there is something similar to gulp and modules like minify, uglify, smooth, etc (for HTML, CSS and JS) that runs in Python instead of nodejs? I can't install nodejs/npm in my job because "open source software is dangerous" :)
