I'm working on a portfolio website hosted on Github pages, but I'm struggling for inspiration. (I'm also not a web developer, but this is a learning experience). Do any of my fellow ranters have portfolio websites they've developed to show their skills?1

When this week is over, I'd love to see the statistics on posts that contain keywords such as Microsoft. 🙃2

I think this has been asked for before but I think it would be cool to add polls to our rants. Even if rsnts with polls are confined to their own section or something. I think this would benefit the devRant team too, as I know they like to collect statistics on strange things about the dev community.
Vote if you think this is a good idea.... Wait... 🙃 -
Don't attempt to reach the Balmer peak at the office without first practising at home.
It will take many attempts to know how much you need to drink to achieve it. It's a fine, fine line. 🙃3 -

Only just got around to listing to the devRant podcast #1 this morning. DHH is a little potty mouth 🙃
Excellent content none the less! I kind of agree on DHH's stance on project managers.
On a side note, what other podcasts do you guys listen to? I quite like most of the content from jupiter broadcasting. LAS and Coder Radio specifically. -
"Lets move away from winforms to something a bit more modern, let's get our ux up to speed"
The new spec ended up wanting exact replicas of our Winforms projects in wpf. -

Even if I don't like a rant that much - if it's getting a lot of ++ and is close to 175 (maybe like 150) I always give it another one to give it that little nudge. I'm just that kind of a guy.3 -
I put my CV on one website and I've already had about 10 calls from recruiters. It's nice that they do all the work for you these days, but it kind of takes the fun out of it - are IT recruiters this common everywhere?11

Long shot, but I've not long moved to Manchester (uk) and I don't know anyone. Are there any dev related events around here that you guys know about?5

Getting so comfortable in a language/framework that you do everything with it. Even if you have to shoehorn the hell out of it for a purpose it's not made for.4
