> Arguing on Reddit.
Well there’s your problem.
Redditors by and large will not (and cannot) accept opposing viewpoints, let alone something that proves them wrong. These people also likely have a mental vested interest in refuting your claim, either because the indicated group did cheat (which makes women look bad, and by extension, those redditors themselves); or that the cheating itself is wrong (and if said redditors are also cheaters, they are thus guilty of something they cannot fix). So they see your argument as not just an argument, but as a personal attack, and they feel cornered and so lash out in desperate self-defense. Reddit itself is also built to encourage constructing (and protecting) echo chambers. In both ways, you are fighting a hopeless battle. -
The biggest problem with ORMs is that most devs think they’re amazing and thus use them excessively, especially when and where they shouldn’t.

@Lensflare Oblivion’s enchanting was just as bad, if not worse.
Really, the magic systems in all TES games were terrible, with possibly the exception of Morrowind. You could make better spells in that, but it was also very broken and abusable. Better abusable than pathetic and nearly useless, though. -
@jestdotty This.
-
@D-4got10-01 Not surprised in the least.
-
Right back at you :)
-
@netikras :(
-
@joncheeks I will rape you with a goddamn fucking chainsaw. Go spam some pills instead.
-
@netikras That is amazing!
That’s how it should be, honestly. It would allow parents to raise better children, which would improve the country as a whole. Why isn’t it that way elsewhere? :( -
@netikras The rum isn’t gone. But: new baby.
-
@Demolishun No; I don’t remember.
-
@Demolishun Well, I still don’t know where you live, so I can’t deliver it anyway
-
@Demolishun Bailey’s is okay. I prefer Sheelin, but that’s difficult to find.
What kind of rum do you like? Or whiskey; that’s acceptable too! -
@Demolishun You know. Santa tried delivering you a bottle of rum a few years back. But you didn’t answer, so he didn’t know where to deliver it.
-
@Demolishun It isn’t terribly nice :(
-
Don’t tell me what to do, @lopu.
-
Tiredness
-
My boss was shocked I got six weeks off for having a newborn. He thought I’d be out for just a few days. 🤦🏻♀️
-
I miss rum :(
-
@lopu …?
-
@retoor More or less yes :) Oxytocin is nice.
But I thought this was more general.
And I am still tired all the time; definitely moreso now. -
“I just want to feel normal again” :(
-
“I’m so fucking tired.”
“I feel like shit. I always feel like shit, but today’s a bit worse.”
“Dear gods, what do I have to do now?”
“I just want to rest.”
“I wonder what projects I could work on?”
“…right, I won’t be able to because I’ll be too tired”
“Fucking fucking fucking fuck-fuck”
This is a lot of my internal monologue.
Goddamn endless fatigue. -
If you have AI write code for you, rather than simply expand existing patterns, assume every line of it is wrong. Actually, assume that no matter what it does. AI sucks.
-
Fucking what?
-
@netikras 🍻
-
@retoor Can verify, -- works too!
-
@jestdotty Then just proceed straight to the face-stabbing. 🗡️😊
-
@kiki Actual vaccines, sure! Code injection written by juniors new to the language with no test cases and shipped with an “AS-IS” warranty? No.

I love Ruby. It’s easy to write, easy to read, flexible, and quick to develop with. I can all but write Ruby code in my sleep.
I also love C. It does exactly what I tell it, no matter what, and quickly. It takes longer to write, though, and it’s picky — not Rust picky, but C code still takes conscious effort to write.
I’d love a blend of these that isn’t Go.
