The main developer at the company just got a new gig and now I'm the sole dev. Everything in the production environment is legacy and in C#. Guess it's time to take a crash course...

I hate it when you're in a groove and the daily stand-up knocks you out of it. Now I can't remember what the hell I was even doing before it.

In my previous position I did mostly networking and helped out where I could setting up servers and workspaces. About a month ago our systems admin left the company so I got to spend all day troubleshooting network issues and configuring the proper NAT statements to connect a new hire to our customers networks. I was supposed to be working on migrating our api from the Splunk search head to the indexer to keep it from absolutely tanking the performance of our database.

Of course I just spilled coffee all over myself in the middle of the daily standup.

ESLint is always too quick...

I finally got my web app functioning properly, but now the way I have to pull data to it is killing the performance of the database. Now I need to figure out how to push the data on update.

Today I delivered the beta of my first product to the customer. The customer is only a different department within my company, but I'm still proud of what I've built. This project was of my own design and vision and it actually landed me the position I'm in today. Now I sit back and wait for feedback as they tear it apart and find out what works for them.

Newer Dev here. Just recently started in a position as a developer. I'm tasked with consolidating our monitoring systems into one cohesive display. After lumping together all the indexes and helping build a custom API I'm now working on front end. Front end is easy, I've done it before. Should be no problem. I was wrong. I spent a whole day fiddling with a React dynamic table and the CSS to format it. Today, I stumble upon the react-table component. Got the results I was looking for in less than 2 hours. I'm convinced that this was a lesson better learned early on.
