I don't think I've ever met more than 80% of the qualifications for a job
-
It wasn't email. It was snail mail addressed to me at my new place of employment and not discreet. It also wasn't a coworker.

$1 rubber duck or $100/hr therapist. The choice is yours.

Ku is sudoku that you have to do in your head, because you don't have write permissions
-
Well, considering that this is DevRant and not PMRant or ClientRant, I'm going to guess that most of us are developers
-
I always answer "the same kind of stuff I'm doing now, but with 5 years more experience and the skill to go with it"
-
Every employer ever asks this question, either on the application or during the interview. Even fast food places looking for burger flippers. Nobody wants that job unless they really need the money.

Is he paid by the number of lines of code that he writes?

It's possible to have just stumbled through table-creation GUIs the entire time. I've had the displeasure of working with morons with supposed decades of experience and still couldn't code their way through a paper bag

@mvalentin
I went in to programming so I would never have to do anything I could make a computer do for me -
There's more desirable addresses that are still available

I earned my stress ball with original content, but yeah, it's really hard to compete with memes and stolen jokes

@Data-Bound
But he's been doing PHP since 2009 -
@Data-Bound
It was written sometime in the past year by someone who has been coding longer than I've been alive -
@tisaconundrum
I thought asking questions gave you more rep -
Macros in MS Excel is how I got started. I got tired of doing the same shit every day, so I started automating the tedious parts. It's a shit language, but it's a gateway drug to real programming.

@Jase
I'm pretty sure you could get that sound as a ring tone if you wanted -
Neither. I value both desk space and legroom. It goes on the floor beside the desk.

It looks like I spoke too soon....
Got laid off today -
@MakubeX
Multiple companies. Multiple careers. Multiple times for each company. I'm only in my mid-twenties. I'm pretty sure I'm cursed or something.
Although, the only time I've ever been cut personally was when the entire business shut down, and they kept me on until the last day. -
@dsteiner
Most of my programming classes had open book tests... except assembly, where it was closed-book, closed-computer, timed, and included several 10+ digit decimal-to-binary conversions -
You should have seen their election night coverage. They were coloring the side that was ahead.
-
Can't they just make it redirect all traffic to a "your router needs to be configured" page if the settings are set to default?
-
So what happens when the ink runs out?
-
I'm a 100% backend dev, but my employer expects me to do the project management, database design, coding, UI/UX, deployment, and QA all on my own, so I do. Also, I just finished school less than a year ago so I'm making an intern level salary

In my experience, companies start treating their employees like shit when the ship is sinking
