just came across this rant again and actually thinking of that now - that wouldn't stop me probably, because I would just setup/figure a cron, that if it detects a major deletion - just restores it from a backup, ending up in something that netflix "Chaos Monkey" deploys for their servers too - randomly killing off resources to force for training of critical situations and backup enforcement
