retoor81491dI hate it. If you want concentration I recommend amphetamine. That's a true good gift to any developer.
-
I've spent over $600 on noise cancelling earbuds and headphones the last 3 years because the alternative was to quit my job.
I work on a busy road that the police are wholly disinterested in keeping from becoming a racetrack full of illegally modified vehicles designed solely to harass as many people as possible.
It's nice to just switch off my hearing and work. It even covers the bass pretty well. It's nice. Not as nice as not needing them would be. -
retoor81491d@CaptainRant yes, i do not like to be distracted from my surrounding. I like to stay alert. There are pm's, scrum masters and all other scum ready to attack you.
-
I'll just add to this thread that my joke was a reference to the Annihilator 2000 in the 1994 movie Beverly Hills cop III. lol
-
@retoor Personally I like a combo of earphones && heavy metal.
The heavier / darker the metal, the better.
Works wonders when reporting issues. -
retoor81491d@CaptainRant yeah maybe, but in reality they will take you to a room with bright lights on and let you starve on sleep deprevation until you answer. I complained at HR about it.
-
@retoor How many lights are there?
Reflecting back on it, I miss the days of using speakers and listing to music. I used to hate headsets but have gotten so used to it now it feels strange not to wear one at the PC. -
I got some really expensive amazing sound quality headphones and they're so realistic the things you hear in them you think are happening for real
very spoiled
spotify said my music is 40% more energetic than others lol, so couple that with steady stream of coffee/tea and I won't bore to death
though I'm kind of upset at limited availability of noises. I want some "fun" and extremely trippy meditation musics to play -
CaptainRant402015h@jestdotty Those sound like great headphones! Interesting experience..
Look at you, living the office dream! Fuck yes. lol.
Doesn't YouTube provide happy fun musics to you? lol. Or the internet. Hm. -
jestdotty753111h@CaptainRant groove shark was dope but alas
there used to be community radios in there with chatrooms. programmers would sit in rooms and vote on which song to play next
but apparently some music mafia stuff went down so it's been gone a while. shame
YouTube kind of sucks of late especially with the search but I'm still trying to get by on that. I need to stop being such an old person and find new websites -
CaptainRant402010h@jestdotty Exciting. I'm curious to see what similar solutions can be found. Let's go to Napster. jk. Hm.. Discord groups?
-
@CaptainRant discord groups are less coordinated and that resulted in a whole disaster because I started having a relationship with someone on the basis of our music taste and then some months later found out the whole foundation of our relationship was a lie (and otherwise they were kind of a shitty person)
er though on the technicals that sort of works but you'll get personal relationships and drama out of it because of the number of people (and maybe people on discord are all attention-seeking drama queens idk). there's not really voting on music so you have to learn to take turns and then you'll have personal opinions on people, politics, etc. you'll be in the same discord group also not based on your taste (grooveshark had radios based on roughly what you were looking for, and turns out techno or whatever I was listening to was mostly programmers)
Having an Active Noise-Cancelling headset is a gift to a Software Developer. Concentrated engineering in any noisy environment.
The dawn of a new generation in luxury personal equipment.
The ANC headset is a premium lightweight, high-performance headset that meets the demands of the new generation of upper-income urban software developers.
The ANC has the conveniences of earplugs, a wireless communications device, and a device without wires.
Muting power is a matter of convenience with the ANC headset.
