Sometimes I spend entire days working dark-to-dark with my headphones on

... without even listening to anything

And if I happen to be "in the zone", after the whole day of having my headphones on and not listening to anything, I take them off and feel like it's so quiet out of a sudden. It feels like I was in a noisy discussion (with myself) whilst I was "in the zone".

Just sharing my observations :)

Putting mobile phone to DnD.

Putting on Bluetooth headsets with ANC, blasting some good shit music.

Violently cooking or desperately ordering food at the good restaurants.

While waiting, grinding some coffee beans, making fresh coffee or some nice tea with milk.

Laying on the sofa in a food induced coma, turning on any streaming service with the real bad shitty movies.

Hentai Kamen, The Machine Girl, ...

Anything thats either pure groteske bullshit or that doesn't require more than a braincell cause it appeals either to the violent or complete nonsense side of my brain.

Last but not least, a few cold beers.

ANC headset stays on, just switching from music to tv - shutting out all the outside noise.

Yeah, the same VP that says that she needs silence to focus on the email she's writing when the intern ask her some important question.

Some days: I have a completely perfect focus on my BAU tasks!

Other days: It's difficult to focus on my BAU tasks. Maybe I'll slack off in dR for some time.

Recent days: Impossible to focus on BAU tasks. Impossible to focus even to complete reading a single rant in dR.

I am an apolitical person, politics don't bother me. The pacifist inside me is yelling "STOP THIS MADNESS!!!". This yelling is why I can't concentrate. It's not like ANC Headset can block out this scream....

Anybody has any recommendations for a good headset that is over ear, has ANC & is wireless with a base station?

If I can't find a good one, I'm stuck with buying my own ANC headphones or using some "noise cancellation" headset, that literally does not cancel anything.

As part of mentoring folks was having a round table. All wanted tech help. lists of things to do, learning syllabus, techs to bet on, projects, promotion mantras etc etc.

I asked them how's the work. All started rating about overload and overworked. How difficult it is to find time to do anything else. It became noisy.

So asked how they will find time to do all the above without time. Do they really need mentoring on time management and prioritisation ?
