cafecortado789510hYou can't have everything, you must drop one requirement: either the end of the year deadline, or the team size of 2 people, or keeping the users happy.

wojtek322167110h@cafecortado yea, it surely is not a 1-on-1 copy of the existing product. But that tool is so powerful that they surely will miss a lot of existing features. But even then, this deadline seems unrealistic. I have trouble understanding the data that this program processes.
Deadline will surely not be moved since the license of that product has already been terminated
And the deadline is closer than 3 months than 4 with the holidays that both developers still need to legally take. -
donkulator28710hThe one thing that works in your favour is that with a team of two rather than 20 you can actually get shit done.

Wow, I worked on a projects that was invested millions in and nobody liked the new version. Then the monkey got out of his sleeve. The original app was perfect, only had some performance issues.
Please make sure why it needs to be rewritten.
I never worked on a rewrite that didn't escalate. -
@whimsical Mainly financial reasons, even if we work fulltime on this for 2 years, it will be cheaper than paying the license for a year. The features they use do not justify the cost.

I did this and didn't even get a thanks much less a raise. actually I received insults even though everything worked well and the users were amazed and the bosses loved the software and were impressed with it. but I guess my work doesn't increase my value as a person

I have to rebuild a full application till the end of the year without ever using the original application and without a technical document while keeping the users happy.
2 people team compared to a multinational team over 10 years :')
How are you supposed to do that!?
