The reason for not allowing profile picture is to give unbiased Opinions, Now that everyone is doing face reveal it would be harder to unbiased Opinions.

@theabbie actually a whole lot of people, including some otherwise privacy conscious folks have revealed their faces to some degree. devRant used to be a relatively close-knit, safe-space sort of community once (still sort of is but a lot of people have drifted off).

It's just base human instinct I guess and there's nothing expressly wrong with it, the onus is on you.

@OmerFlame It is an ancient IRC/forum social engineering thing. You and a few users get into a chat room and bring up how your password goes to asterisks. Then you wait for idiots to see if their password becomes asterisks and you go steal an account of theirs.

Sounds like it shouldn't work but a lot of people fell for it.
