A client asked me to do a little makeover to their old website (before I made them a new one) because if they ask to the company who made it, they would pay too much. The WWE problem was that the website was in that company server and had their (really) bad backoffice. I ended up injecting in one field on the contacts (not protected with XSS) a script that change a little the front page layout and some content in another pages.

What I like to do when I'm bored...

Apart from having a baby which is the hardest in the world，i think the hardest project is to learn to code.

I studied philosophy and anthropology but gamed a lot. Me and a good mate decided to work together and he told me hed teach me coding.

The guy is a genius but he is a reckless rebel genius who tells everybody to fuck off.

So，after 1 year in a half of intense coding where i had to learn linux， networks， and im not shitting you html and css as well and of course javascript.

He has now put me on， for the last 2 month， in charge of our front end backoffice. I have to design forms that do the right http requests，do the unit testing， play with redux-form， react-redux and he has thrown me into the basic java backend so i can begin working with entites and how i serve the data and link it to the database and even create tables.

Every time i fail hemakes me remake everything.

I actually came on devrant to study the dev community (i always gamed a lot but this is a whole different community). The dev community is pretty awesome and unique.

Anyhow， i remember when i saw him as me to complete an exercise and i didnt event know which words were the reserved language ones and those i could use myself. It was like fucking magic.

After two years of learning front end librairies and some javascript my mate just threw me into our java backoffice to help him do the testing.

I read so much shit about java， i was a bit apprehensive... But man the more i learn the more i think code is beautiful.

Well i for the first time am starting in java today and its beautiful as well ;) like，i can`t remember having had so much awe for something in a long time.

OMFG this SAP hybris backoffice is such a disfunctional piece of shit. The simplest modification is like going through dozends of places, changing weird named XML stuff. I consider myself good at seeing the whole picture of an API ... but this ... this isn't something I would even call API ... IT'S shit, pure and utter shit.
Sockets, widgets XML, config XML, widget-configurations, definition.xml widgetcontroller .... not even the docs are clear (or existing for that matter) ... ARG !"§$%&/(O

I don't know what is worse. SAP hybris backoffice or its "promotion module". Fuck, that piece of shit is an overengineerd bastard - full of bugs and slow as hell.

I hope you guys who created this monster burn in hell for you atrocitiy!

My current boss. He is never in the office and all he does is telling in which direction he wants the company to go. The backoffice works scrum and they are for any person in the company the people to deal with.

They care for personal growth and also tell you if you can get more money from them for example travel expenses.

The techlead is a female developer. If you are stuck around the place she lives in she lets you stay over or bring you home even though thats a two hours drive.

Getting to the topic:

After scanning people's opinion here i have decided to learn C.

I have done js react and html css for the last year and have an okay grasp on it but i want to learn more.

Mainly:

-security
-network
-memory and ressources

Im a noob ant ive only scratched the surface. Im gonna be soon working on databases and backend java to master the functioning of a backoffice with its API and the handling of form and crud automisation (i probably am not using all the right words. I am learning and being told what to do).

Am i helping myself with C and if so any tutorial advice or good teaching resource that could be advised to me.

[Prestashop question / rant]

Yes, it's not StackOverflow here, neither is it prestashop support forum - but I trust u people most :)

Proper solution for working with big(?) import of products from XML (2,5MB, ~8600 items) to MySQL(InnoDB) within prestashop backoffice module (OR standalone cronjob)

"solutions" I read about so far:
- Up php's max execution time/max memory limit to infinity and hope it's enough
- Run import as a cronjob
- Use MySQL XML parsing procedure and just supply raw xml file to it
- Convert to CSV and use prestashop import functionality (most unreliable so far)
- Instead of using ObjectModel, assemble raw sql queries for chunks of items
- Buy a pre-made module to just handle import (meh)

Maybe an expert on the topic could recommend something?
