When it's Monday morning, before 10 am, and customers start instant messaging you with angry looking emojis...*sigh*

Instant messaging apps are a burden if your client is a b*tch.
Client: hey, I want you to put some more images on this page.
Me: Oh, okay, send them all and I will do. *provides email*
Client: Cool, will do that in an hour.
*closes facebook*
[two hours later, waiting for the email and wondering why I didn't receive it yet]
*opens facebook*
*is greeted by 45 new messages from client*
*opens to see 45 images sent one by one for me to use it on the webpage*

I knew I had found the right group of friends when one of them suggested we try SQL Injection on the instant messaging feature of the bowling alley console.
Unrelated, do people not think, "hmm, that seems like an unnecessary feature?"2 -
I cannot express how much I don't want businesses who have my phone number to randomly pick an instant messaging account registered with that phone number for their correspondence. I can pick an SMS app, I own my messages as data and so I am fundamentally free to backup, sync, and view them as and when I want. The same is not true for Viber which I only registered because my mom's tenants literally don't use anything else.2

Today, I read the mother of all instant messaging client statuses. And I am a fan of this person. It goes like...
"When writing a note, please proceed straight to the question, without asking 'do you have a minute', 'are you busy', etc. I always try to multi-task. If I am busy with higher priority tasks or the issue is complex, the reply can be delayed."1 -

Just sharing a project I submitted to college. It is not done. It's a LAN messenger written in java swing.

tl;dr: looking for suggestions for new instant messenger (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.)
so I used to use Facebook Messenger a LOT, actually much more than even texting (I know I know, Facebook=spyware lol). I wanna ditch Facebook so bad but most of the people I talk to, I message through Messenger, and thus, I don't have most people's actual phone number. so I'm looking for suggestions for a new messaging platform, where these are my priorities:
1. Ease of use/existing userbase (e.g. the more of my friends that are already on it, the better)
2. Security & Privacy
3. the ability to easily find people I know without having their phone number7 -
People around you (especially non-engineers) coming over just to know whether you saw their instant message ping / email to send them a value of a configuration. Or others who just comes in at the right time - when you just got into your utopian magical zone - "just to say hi and catch up". There goes the rest of my day.
Complement that to the instant messaging application of choice of the organization and it's a no-no for productivity. I find myself being invited to random channels only because they want to mention that I did something. I set myself to Away whenever I'm in the mood, but that still doesn't stop people from pinging and sending me notifications anyway. -
Lack of communication, well the communication is there via instant messaging and some video calls, but it's much slower than usual.
And the lack of free coffee of course.
