Sticky notes update requires restart..

My lead developer left on vacation for a week. Without notice to my boss and/or myself.

Well to be fair we did have the minimum which is a 2 day notice....

So what did we do? Well the boss and I acted like absolute adults and did what any other adult would do.

Me sticky noted the fuck out of his desk and screens.

4 screens full of sticky notes.

Phone is full of sticky notes too. And geez man....everything is sticky notes....so...many....sitcky...notes

- Guys, today the security auditors are coming, don't forget to remove your sticky notes with passwords. And for God's sake wear the badges for a least a day!

Another fucking rant about my fucking goldfish brain.

At meetings, I usually note down things I need to fix, to do on the sticky note pad that comes with the OS, currently Mint.

I sat at my desk.
Looked at my notes.
Decided to properly put them as tasks on trello.
I copied all notes, planning to paste it on a trello card quickly.
Then I can just work on trello and separate into different tasks.
Connection issue.
Ethernet said connected but websites are not showing up.
Maybe restart will fix since I haven't opened any app and started working anyway.
Reboot.
Internet works.
Yayyy.
Trello showed up.
Yayyy.

my industrial design lecturer keeps these sticky notes attached to the palmwrest of his laptop permanently, and I always wondered what was on it.

Worked for a team where Scrum was thrust on it to fix/cover up bad management decisions.

Manager is really enthusiastic (to impress his new boss) and gets a bunch of colored post-it sticky notes for stories and shit. Team spends a bunch of time carefully writing stories & etc and arranging said notes on a white board. Come in the next day and 90% of them fell off due to condensation, or such such.

Left the group, with the rest of the senior dev staff, after the "15 minute" standup expanded a minimum of 1 hour each day... and the SM carefully writing down everything everyone said.

A co-dev gave me some career advice - "when the pilots are drunk, it's time to get off the plane."

Me: Scattering the whole place for paper and pen to jot things down.

When you need to pivot your startup, do it. There is nothing to be ashamed of.

Back in 2013, My CEO hired a new Manager for the R&D department, who supposedly had over 15 years of extensive experience with Windows and Windows server.

On his first day he suddenly turns toward my colleague, who is sitting right next to me and asks "Do you have a setup for Sticky Notes?", we were using "Windows 7".

The entire room turns toward him as he said that and started laughing quietly.

can you recommend any ubuntu software which would allow me setup notes on the screen?

microsoft sticky notes for windows has been very useful for me in windows env, but couldn't find an alternative for ubuntu.
A browser plugin, which could turn my opera homepage to a set of sticky notes/ clock/music widgets would also be equally awesome

Programming lesson #8
Nowadays I write tasks for the next day at the end of my shift in the sticky notes app.
That way it's easier to start off for the next day without trying to remember what tasks were remaining from the previous day.
If tasks are greater in number then it's good to go for external task tracking tools. But for me keeping track of just 2-3 tasks is easier by using simple sticky notes app.

Knowledge management. My last job had notes recorded under closed tickets. Some people use hundreds of gdocs. Others have github gists some people I've seen just have sticky notes everywhere

Windows sticky notes are a pain in my ass. If you use them please use something better like one note. You will make the world a better place.
