Hey guys, I want to do a cyber security career. For me it's the most interesting field in CS. How can I get started? Is it worth to do some online courses where you get certifications (asking this because they are kind of pricey). I'm a QA Tester with 1 year of work experience, don't know if I should just apply to jobs or acquire skills/certificates first. Thanks for all the incoming answers. :D5

- That I never programmed anything "big" or useful.
- that I didn't have a developer job or internship (I am a university student).
- reading job descriptions and seeing the qualifications they ask for.

I really like programming in Haskell.
Everyone I know seems to hate it (or prefer to work with oo-languages)
Any friendly Haskeller here who wants to collab/teach/learn from each other? ._.'8 -
So I'm learning Vim at the moment... and one thing that bugs me is that the navigation arrows are h,j,k,l.
On the german keyboard layout, when I use the 10-finger-system, my right hand is in this constellation: forefinger on j, middle finger on k, ring finger on l, and little finger on ö.
So wouldn't it be better if the navigation would be j,k,l,ö instead of h,j,k,l?
Or is this different in english keyboard layout?
I'm confused 🤔6 -
I don't understand why we have so many apps on the smartphones. I mean, we don't use "apps" for the desktop. We just use the browser and visit the webpage. Why can' t we do the same on smartphones? They do have mobile versions...
(In fact I do, but many ppl use apps like Twitter, Reddit, Facebook instead of just visiting the webpage). For me it's just waste of memory space.6 -
So apparently I am not a programmer because I turn tea into software. :(
Anyone else feeling discriminated by this definition? :D11
