Oh man... I fucked up. I spent almost 36-40 hours in 3 days trying to fix a bug, that was quite literally a single, two word fix.
Change `Key` to `Value.State`
I burned that time into the weekend. I'm both satisfied and dissatisfied with this decision.11 -
Buy a $2000 suit that you will wear once or twice a year and nobody cares.
Buy a $120 keyboard that you will literally use everyday and people lose their minds.12 -
Ooof.
In a meeting with my client today, about issues with their staging and production environments.
They pull in the lead dev working on the project. He's a 🤡 who freelanced for my previous company where I was CTO.
I fired him for being plain bad.
Today he doesn't recognize me and proceeds to patronize me in server administration...
The same 🤡 that checks production secrets into git, builds projects directly in the production vm.
Buckle up... Deploys *both* staging and production to the *same* vm...
Doesn't even assign a static IP to the VM and is puzzled when its IP has changed after a relaunch...
Stores long term aws credentials instead of using instance roles.
Claims there are "memory leaks", in a js project. (There may be memory misuse by project or its dependencies, an actual memory leak in v8 that somehow only he finds...? Don't think so.)
Didn't even set up pm2 in systemd so his services didn't even relaunch after a reboot...
You know, I'm keeping my mouth shut and make the clown work all weekend to fix his own hubris.12 -
Hey folks, just need to get this off my chest! 😤
I finally broke free from the chains of a company riddled with politics and zero career growth. 🚫📉
But hey, I've joined a startup now! 🚀 It's a fresh start where I can escape the drama and unlock my true potential. No more suffocating bureaucracy or stifled progress. 💪💡7 -

"We need to reduce the scope of the project, guys... What if we don't make tests? They're taking some time do write, so..."
Yep. Let's compromise the quality and call it scope reduction. It will make wonders to our roadmap 👍6 -
At an office job I worked at (2018), one day we were told to drop everything we were doing for the day and gather around, because there was a lady (about 70 years old) who had stopped by to give us "Life Advice".
The lady started her speech with this statement:
"In 1974, I lived in a mansion with 7 servants at my service and 4 cars".
I'm not making this up.
Then she rambled on for 15 mins about how she faced difficulties in her life, starting from studying in a boarding school in Switzerland, then coming back to India to work at the Taj Hotel (Mumbai) under a team of world-renowned chefs who were mean to her, at her internship which paid her about $2500 USD a month in 1985.
But the point she made was, in spite of all her difficulties, she never gave up and kept working.
When she was finally done, NOBODY clapped. She felt awkward as hell and we saw it on her face.
I still chuckle when I think about that incident.11 -
Senior leadership: "We've had great feedback that these short, quick meetings are highly valuable, so we are going to make them longer."5

I love how i finish a project, dont touch ANYTHING for months, then a few months later i try to run it and NOTHING WORKS. I cant start. I cant compile. Now i have to update versions. Now developer mode has to be turned on and restarted phone. Now i have to configure something specific in xcode. Now i have to update xcode. Now it crashes. Now i have to modify something. AND IT NEVWR FUCKING ENDS. I DIDNT TOUCH SHIT SINCE THE LAST TIME I OPENED THIS PROJECT AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY FINE. I DIDNT EVEN CHANGE MY PHONE OR PC. I DIDNT EVEN DELETE THE REPOSITORY FROM MY PC. AND BY MAGIC EVERYTHING GOT FUCKED A FEW MONTHS LATER FOR NO REASON. NO. I WILL FUCK YOU. U WONT FUCK ME. FUCK U15

Cook A:
1 - Makes a soup
2 - Leaves a mess
Company: ☺️ What a nice cook, here's your promotion to senior Cook.
Cook B:
1 - Cleans kitchen
2 - Makes soup
3 - Cleans after themself
Company: 😡 What took you so long!? Cook A made it in 1/3 of the time.
This is the pattern I've seen so far in development... and it's sad20 -
Me, complaining about being single: It would just be nice to have someone who cares how my day went every day
Scrum master: Hey...

A man flying in a hot air balloon suddenly realizes he’s lost. ♨💨🎈
He reduces height and spots a man down below.
He lowers the balloon further and shouts to get directions,
"Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?"
The man below says:
"Yes. You're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field."
"You must work in Information Technology," says the balloonist.
"I do" replies the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but It's of no use to anyone."
The man below replies, "You must work in management."
"I do," replies the balloonist, "But how'd you know?"
"Well", says the man “you don’t know where you are or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault."7 -
