Why is native Java UI development have to be so f*cking hard??

When you have an unused tv, turn it into a monitor.

Just saw a rant about date formats between the US and every other country and saw this a few years ago. Seems appropriate

I believe this is why companies look for Junior Developers who actually know enough to be a mid or senior developer.

One day, a company that doesn't have the technical chops to know the difference between python and ruby hire a developer who is still in school. That developer doesn't know what he's worth, so the company gets him for pretty cheap. He does amazing things, takes last minute requests, learns some along the way, but eventually leaves because he just got contacted by a recruiter telling him how much he's really worth. He leaves, but the company needs to fill his spot. The company asks the former rockstar all the technologies he used to accomplish his job and throw that into a job description. The company could only really afford the junior so they keep all the stuff about being a junior, but because they need to maintain all the hodge podge stuff the previous developer put in, they need someone with experience enough to jump in.

I've never heard an Apple person say "laptop" or "phone". They always specify that it's a "MacBook" or "iPhone".
Just an observation.

What's so wrong with just saying "my phone" instead of saying "my IPhone"?

!rant I'm beginning my nerd project of getting my IBM 5150 to the internet via my raspberry pi and a terminal emulator. Oh and the IBM has a 4gb (yes gigabytes) HDD in the form of a compact flash.

The pi is a model B. Even as an older pi, look at the difference in size versus performance!

The 5150 is 4.77 mhz

The Pi is 900mhz

Windows update service on servers...that trigger a 15 minute countdown to reboot when you log in. Even under business hours.

DirectX. Just plainly because DirectX is _used_ and propagated comercially. That lured game developers to it and glued them to Windows.

If I could change something in the past, I'd want to switch Win to Linux as a game platform. There's practically no sane reason to fix yourself to a single platform, especially to Windows. Hell, I'd even go for Mac because it uses OpenGL!

And don't give me that fancy DirectX 12 description you've seen on some Microsoft's or "professional" gaming website. DirectX is evil.

Has anyone used python within cyber security?

I really want to get into cyber security. I'm curious what programming languages are used within that industry.

A surprisingly honest sales site

To all new devs:
- Your language of choice is fine.
- There is no superior way to indent, yours is fine.
- Your IDE is fine.
- Your OS is fine.

Unless you work in my team, of course.
