Time for an exam about Cloud computing and deploying Microservices to the cloud using kubernetes, followed by another exam about Usage of scientific C libraries. This feels both so disconnected for being part of the same degree.

Need advice with buying a notebook.
I fell in love with the Lenovo X1 Carbon.
It comes with a FHD display, WQHD and a 4K OLED.

I thought about getting the 4K OLED to safe battery since I’m dev and everything is dark anyway.

However, the internet says, that using 4K, drains the battery quickly and for long battery life one should get the FHD.

So I wonder, which one has more impact: 4times the pixels or pixels just barley illuminated...
Maybe someone has experiences with that :)

After months and months of unrealistic deadlines, pulling late night shifts coupled with an insane commute and two very small children at home I had a total burnout. Turned up to work one morning, and stared at the Java code I had been writing for the past couple of days and it might as well have been written in Martian. The more I stared, and the more I tried to keep things together internally the less I was able to make sense of anything - just a random jumble of characters on screen that were as intelligible as the green scrolling lines from The Matrix.

My office manager saw that I was obviously in some distress and took me into a meeting room to have a quick chat - and there I was, a grown man of 35 bawling my eyes out like a two year old. Not the most edifying moment of my life.

However, the company couldn't have been more supportive afterwards; one of my colleagues drove the 100 miles to get me home in my car and took a train back up to the office; my GP signed me off work for six months and treated me for severe depression; the office instituted stricter working policies - not on the developers, but the sales/PM teams that were handing down ridiculous timescales simply so they could get a sale.

For my part, I've learnt to push back and say "NO!" - work is not your life, it's an important part of your life, but my no means everything. Don't feel beholden to a company to meet unrealistic targets that you haven't agreed to. Talk.

Hey guys I just installed Arch Linux and a desktop environment, I don't know what to do with my life now...

Am I the only one who is triggered by seeing all of the stupid articles claiming Java is bad introduction language? Just becuase Standford decided to change it to JavaScript? What the actual fuck? How students should learn the fundamentals concept of OOP in scripting language?
Don't get me wrong, I hate using Java for real life projects. But there is a reason why almost every university use it as introduciton language. It's great start to learn programming. Saying that the 'Hello World' in Java is complex and can scare people away, it's complete nonsens. For fuck sake, yes programming should be fun, but it is also hard. People can understand that they are going to learn what 'public static voiď means later. It's the structure of many Computer Science classes. It's the assigments that are not designed in engaging and fun way for newcomers. That's the problem, not the language.

Today in algebra I got bored and wrote "<hand>" on the back of my hand and "</hand>" on the top of my wrist, I feel proud of myself and I also question why I do things like this.

Well, at least they're being honest about it
