A recruiter at https://skillcombo.com/ was conducting an interview via video link, the candidate was wearing a pressed white shirt and a stylish tie with doughnuts from The Simpsons. During the interview, the quality of the connection began to deteriorate and the candidate asked for a moment to turn up the volume on the speaker behind him. This required him to stand up and then my eyes were opened to the stunning lingerie of Homer Simpson and those same doughnuts, they complemented his whole image magnificently.

I've handed my resignation and given notice 45 days ago, and my boss still doesn't believe me. It will be quite interesting to see how he reacts on my last day.

The most C++ I know is from 5 weeks of 'learning' it in college. Now I've been handed a legacy C++ project from sometime before 2004 and am expected to figure out how it works, update it to either a newer C++ version, and compile it to NOT a 16 bit dll (like the current version is) to replace the one on our servers.

I just found out that some of the ranters I have seen around quite often are only around 18 (like I am).

Love it when the maintainer of an open source project you contribute to runs a linter over the whole codebase and force pushes the changes to origin master so now all the Pull Requests in the queue have to be rewritten and have tons of merge conflicts to resolve. Awesome! 😠

We got an HTC Vive from my girlfriend’s brother two weeks ago. We’ve been enjoying it, playing games, looking at places to move, using it as a virtual vacation (since we haven’t left the house in months thanks to covid and sweltering heat), etc. It’s been amazing.

Today, my 1yo decided it would be great fun to wrap its cord in the exercise bike and spin the pedals (and therefore flywheel) as fast as he could. It ripped the headset band off, broke the plastic attachment, and tore the cables out. He also broke the pedal somehow.

So no more Vive.

We can probably get it fixed, but.
My heart hurts.
