Electronics store clerk: "Can I help you?"

Me: "Good afternoon sir. I'm a developer and lifelong PC gamer. I received a second hand PS4, and might buy a next gen console at the end of the year. People tell me that in front of this soft wide desk chair people call a "couch", you need some sort of large computer monitor to enjoy console gaming"

Clerk: "Yeah, we sell TVs. What TV do you have now?"

Me: "I don't own a TV. I just want a huge 4K computer display with a good response time, excellent refresh rate, and great contrast"

Clerk: "OK so this is an entry level 55" smart TV. It's 120hz, QLED, has full array local dimming. It's great for gaming. It's €1000. We also have this LG OLED smart TV for €1200, which is a step up in terms of contrast and response time..."

Me: "Wait... Smart TV? No, I don't want a TV with an operating system. I want a computer display."

Clerk: "There aren't a lot of big computer displays. We have this ASUS ROG 55" computer monitor. It's also 120hz. Very similar response time, but the brightness and contrast aren't as great, it's edge-lit"

Me, trying really hard to make out the contrast differences under ugly fluorescent lights of the store: "So it's a worse big couch display, without smart OS. How much is it?"

 Clerk: "€3500"

Me: "So what you're saying is that while the displays are similar or even better, the operating system on all these TVs is so incredibly bad, you have to give €2500 discount for people to even buy it?"28

You want to write a minus? No, better turn off the computer. What did you do to us, asus...

Ps: note where did the num lock gone. You have to press fn+home to get numlock enabled. But better have awesome rog key instead of numlock so you can randomly open it's software. 14 14

Asus have now decided that a removable battery is a feature people do not need anymore on a powerful laptop.

My battery or charger had a fit and blew the fuse on my charger and broke the battery, and now I have to send my laptop back because they can't send me a new battery, as replacing it myself would void the warranty.

Please for the love of all that isn't completely retarded, nobody start taking more pages out of Apple's book, even some completely non-technical people could handle changing a battery before, this benefits no one.

To make things worse, I'm on holiday right now and leaving the country for a year a few weeks after I get back, so if they can't get it back to me fast enough, I won't have the laptop for the whole bloody reason I bought it for, just because some smart arse designer has clearly never owned a laptop in their life.2

So, I got my very first gaming laptop on March 2015. Took a break from the almighty PC Master Race.

It's an Asus ROG G751JT. It was doing great, running my favourite games at 60FPS on high-ultra settings.
Few months after purchasing it, I've been getting a lot of BSODs with the same error (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)

As told by the guys at a local forum, I was told to try replacing the RAMs and I was stupid enough, I did. It has 4x 8GB HyperX Impact DDR3L.
The error still won't go away until I changed my SSDs. Which worked for a while until a week ago.

Getting the same BSOD countless times. This time I decided to directly talk to an expert, which is a friend of mine and guess what. It was the motherboard after all. Spent a lot of $$$$ to fix ONE BSOD.

Now I'm stuck with an Asus T100TF for about a month because I had to send it for warranty claim.

smh jfc anasmy y u so stupid for a year and a half. 10/10 worst experience (since it involved a lot of money)

What do you think of my stupidity? Comment below (10 marks). 8 8

Got my new PC up and running!

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G (APU)
 Cooler: Scythe Mugen 5
Mobo: Asus B450-F Gaming ROG Strix
 RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB
 SSD: Samsung 2TB M2 Evo 860
 DVD: Plextor PX-891SAF
PSU: Bequiet Straight Power 11 550W
Case: Lancool PC-K58 (10 years old)
Case fans: Bequiet Silentwings 3 140mm (front), Silentwings 2 120mm (back)

The cooler is massively oversized for the CPU, but perfect for a silent PC.

 OS: Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon

As much as I loved Win 7, but it's over, and Win 10 just isn't acceptable.18

There is a new phishing site going around called "rogstrike.com" that is being spread by Steam DMs.

Infected asks victim to "vote for their team" and in order to do that, you need to login with steam. The steam login part is sketchy af, litterally spawns a fake new window in the same tab. Doesn't matter what OS you use, it's always Win 10 styled. Lol.

I reported on twitter and via email, i'll see what they will do. 4 4

I recently upgraded my computer to a ryzen 1700x and 16gb 3600mhz memory and an asus rog crosshair hero vi board(From an 8350)
My pc ran soo smooth, games even more so
The games ran great, but my personal performance went down.
I didn't understand why. Im probably just losing my edge.
I trained and tried. But still, it felt off.

Today I realized that with my new motherboard, I got a new mac address. And my friend is a bit of a neat freak with that stuff. He has a whole system for ip addresses.

So i told him, I wont have the correct ip address. Then he started laughing and asked my to browse to a certain site www.privateinternetaccess.com
There at the top it said: "you are protected by pia"

Devices without an ip address bound to their mac address, will automatically use the vpn according to his rules.

My ping improved by 10-15ms upon getting my normal ip address back and my game performance is back.3

Anyone interested in the new Asus ROG phone? It looks super thuggish, and is being marketed as a "gaming phone." I think it looks neat, but 6" is way too big for me, there's no sdcard, and no LTE bands have been listed yet.

But it comes with a really cool docking station, which to me, makes it an ideal parsec rig.

 What do you think?5

I got my Asus ROG Strix 1070 OC today, and it needs an 8-pin pcie power connector, and my Cool Max 880 watt PSU doesn't have one. I. Can't. Believe. It. I. Have. To. Wait. Another. Day.3

					So I saw an Asus laptop/powerhouse today with overclocked i7 64GB DDR4 RAM and two Nividia GTX1080. 6 6

Calling all devs with multi monitor setups.

What made you decide to get another monitor? I am asking because I want to buy one, but can't *really* justify it.

For ref, I have an Asus ROG Strix G17 laptop which has thin bezels, 17.3 inch screen.

P.S. I am aware that I'm using 'rant' tag. Please don't hate me lol.15

Some hardware experts here? Looking to upgrade my PC soon, and would like some opinion on the parts I chose. I'm going for a minimalistic Mini-ITX productivity build, but gaming also.
 - CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
 - CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Prism
 - GPU: MSI RX 570 8GB Armor (already have it)
 - RAM: 2x 8GB TridentZ RGB
 - 1. SSD: Corsair Force MP510 240GB M2 SSD
 - 2. SSD: Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD
 - PSU: Corsair CX550M
 - MoBo: Asus ROG Strix B350-L Mini-ITX
 - Fans: 6x Thermaltake Riing 12 RGB
 - Case: NZXT H200i24

I'm never buying expensive phones ever again. Ny Asus ROG Phone 5S which I spent $480 for, got its WiFi and Hotspot feature completely broken just 13 months after I bought it.

I looked it up and many other people are having the same problem and it turned out that it was a manufacturer defect

So Asus bricked my phone on purpose.5

I am thinking about building new PC, so I made a list of components. What do you think? Any suggestions?
I don't know which GPU model/brand to get yet. Would like to play at 1440p >60Hz so GTX1070 is not enough if I don't wanna buy new GPU in a few years (probably 4-5 years as I always do).

 - CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 2700X
 - GPU: GTX 1080 Ti / GTX 1080
 - HDD: WD Gold 2TB
 - SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250 GB
 - RAM: Patriot Viper RGB Series 16 GB KIT DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 DDR4 Black
 - MB: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
 - CAS: NZXT H500 Black
 - PSU: Corsair HX75012

So, I bought a gaming laptop to have a desktop replacement on the move.

Issue is, when I stress it, it's... Loud af, and runs really hot (~90°c)

Is that normal for gaming laptops? I dunno if I should return it as faulty of just get used to it.

 It's Asus ROG Strix Scar III G531GW - An i7 9750H and 2070.

The temp issues only seem to be about the cpu, gpu runs around 80°C and is fine...12

Bought top tier Asus ROG phone 3. Good decision than iPhone 12 pro max. Just half the price of that iPhone. I love YouTube Vanced and Max call of duty mobile max settings 😀

Wish there was fantastical 2 in Android then I'm good to go full-time.1

A single update broke my Asus RoG phone 5S.

WhatsApp has started to silently get voice calls out of nowhere.

New messages don't ring a notification sound anymore. Nor any updates on the lock screen/notification drawer.

WiFi doesn't connect automatically after turning it on. The list doesn't even show up. I have to turn my phone off and turn it back on after 5 mins to restore that functionality.

My phone automatically switches off at 18% battery. I've seen it happen 3 times by now.

 Fuck modern software.

Just wondering. Is an ASUS ROG worth it for programming and virtualization? Or there are better ones that are cheaper?3
