Holy crap, just consulted with a company who wanted to fire the entire 6 person backend team because:

Initially I didn't catch on, went to chat with the devs and realised the dilemma. Took 3 hours of (almost heated) debate before the higher ups understood the the value and purpose of backend devs.

Since 2009 this has been my primary work place (even in the cold and rain), I go to the office for mostly non-coding work and have a pc inside for serious sessions but I'd say 80% of my heads down dev time is spent sitting here. A little quirk is when people call or Skype me they'll immediately say "I can hear birds in the background, where are you??".
Anyway, I'm moving soon and thought I should share while I still can ☺️

Just updated to the latest insider build for Windows 10.. left PC unattended and came back later and it was ready... no BSODs, no random crashes, no issues, nothing... it just works as expected...

I'm fairly sure that even if I were to run Windows 10 on a machine with double ECC, it'd still BSOD because of poor memory management. Because why on Earth would Microsoft support such a basic, essential thing properly, hmm?!!

Did a code test at an interview, had to aggregate data from a db. They stored cities with population count and users referenced cities.. 6 cities had a higher user count than population 🤔
They were a little taken back and suggested the population data must be outdated 😉.. it got a bit awkward1 -

So, I got my very first gaming laptop on March 2015. Took a break from the almighty PC Master Race.
It's an Asus ROG G751JT. It was doing great, running my favourite games at 60FPS on high-ultra settings.
Few months after purchasing it, I've been getting a lot of BSODs with the same error (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)
As told by the guys at a local forum, I was told to try replacing the RAMs and I was stupid enough, I did. It has 4x 8GB HyperX Impact DDR3L.
The error still won't go away until I changed my SSDs. Which worked for a while until a week ago.
Getting the same BSOD countless times. This time I decided to directly talk to an expert, which is a friend of mine and guess what. It was the motherboard after all. Spent a lot of $$$$ to fix ONE BSOD.
Now I'm stuck with an Asus T100TF for about a month because I had to send it for warranty claim.
smh jfc anasmy y u so stupid for a year and a half. 10/10 worst experience (since it involved a lot of money)

So I just got off of a teams call which I suffered the classic BSOD part way through, a colleague tells me that the entire time I was disconnected waiting for my laptop to restart, my team's account was broadcasting a super loud jackhammer style racket to everyone else in the call 🤦🏼♂️ and of course nobody knew how to mute me so they sat in 3 minutes of what can only be described as noise 😂😂
I'm not sure whether to feel embarrassed to have caused the issue or to be annoyed that the software does something so random while I'm not even in the call or with a powered on laptop 🙈4 -

So I'm basically my family's IT guy, as you'd expect, but this is just pulling my hairs.
My mom's laptop has a weird error message saying something about a corrupt windows update database.
Not wanting to mess the system up, I decided to factory reset the computer and see if that helped.
During the factory reset, windows tells me that it can't delete all files, and that another factory reset might be in order.
Alright, I don't think any more of it and proceed to setup the account on the computer, everything works fine.
Next day I decide to run windows update on it just to see if everything works as it should, the computer restarts and immediately BSoDs on me. Upon reboot the same error from before the system reset pops up again, and I'm back to square one.
Fuck windows and all its constant issues

Went over to GeekSquad because I royally screwed up my computer. (Really, I wanted a second opinion)
Once I got there, I spoke to the guy about my problem, how I made the problem occur, and then proceeded to show him how my computer would BSOD just as it was about to turn on.
I then asked him if it's possible to work from the backend and reverse what I did to get it up and working again.
His eyes, wide in confusion, and fear, then replied,
No we would have to do a clean install of Windows 7 in order to even get past the BSOD.

I promptly thanked him for trying and then left with the affirmation that all IT ever does is clean install and then charge you up the ass for the OS and backed up data.6 -
So my Windows 10 after April Creators Update (aka Nothing Works) gets BSOD when I turn off Bluetooth, doesn’t recognize my headphones, turns them off if it does, WiFi forgets password after every single restart, most of the time I need to force Safe Mode to get the computer to boot because it freezes on black screen with cursor...

PC crashed while in the middle of a build, "ok, shit happens". Reboot, pc is super sluggy (a BSOD kinda does that, I guess). Reboot again and I check the event logs...I didn't find the problem, but at least my pc is sorry for whatever it was doing earlier.

Trying to learn C and thought a easy file copy was a good start. The program read the size of the file, reserved that size in memory, can copied data there and then to the new file. For some reason I never thought that the file might be bigger then available memory... Took a couple of BSOD to find that "bug".3

I've been a Windows OS user for nearly 20 years, Mac OS user for nearly 2. (Java/ C# dev)
I've had more BSOD on the Mac than on Windows. I've had 2 today, once when opening the laptop after not touching it this weekend, second whole in a debug of an app.6 -

So, whenever I delay windows 10 update restart a few times, things start breaking. Wifi doesn't work, 100% cpu, ram or mem usage, sound problems etc. And all this goes away once I submit my soul and update. I'm sick of this shit 😡. Today I got a BSOD after which it updated and things seem fine FOR NOW.

I know, many devs swear on using *NIX based OSes or macOS but really... Windows 10 is very good, never had a single issue or BSOD. If u have issues regarding update reboots then just disable automatic reboots,damn! One single " fuck Windows, killed my workflow cause of updates. I was using Delphi 7 to develop a desktop application in Windows 2000. Every time my application opened the standard Windows open file dialog, I'd get a BSOD but only if I was running the application with debugger attached. Never found out WTF was wrong... Just changed my code not to show the open dialog if IsDebuggerPresent() was True.

can one still change BSOD colors in Win10? I'd like to change the background to a less harsh darker purple to save my eyes when fixing my desktop in darkness.7

I have 2 laptops. I use 1 for coding and 1 for gaming.
For some reason, the coding laptop keeps giving BSOD once in a while, but the other one never gave BSOD.
Believe me, I've had it longer (the gaming one), don't shut it down or restart often and they both run the exact same windows build versions! 🙄🙄4 -

My Windows 10 VM gloriously just shat itself so badly, it's now stuck in a BSOD bootloop (first time ever I managed to get a BSOD in a fucking virtual machine btw) and I need to reinstall it. So I need to download the newest Win10.iso.
But I'm also currently working on a university assignment that requires me to be connected to the university-network via a VPN that's slower than my 90s ADSL connection (~1Mbps) (see my previous rant). So to download the 4.7GB iso it'd take.... I'm bad at maths, so let's just say fucking AGES.
So I spin up another VM with a bridged network to download my Win10.iso with Gigabit speed to set up another VM.... wonders of modern technology -
To Mac fan boys... Suck it. In the time I've had 1 BSOD on Windows 10 I've had 7 kernel panic on Mac is x at work. And the MBP is newer.6

So a friend of mine was getting a BSOD, when he was starting Ghost Recon Breakpoint and PUBG,
turns out, the Stuff from his racing rig was being detected as cheating by their anti cheat software, and just crashing the system.

My laptop just went through a BSOD and I've been noticing a noise from the hard disk even before the BSOD. Dump says the process that failed is ntoskernel. That's no help.
SMART test said hard disk state as OK but crystaldiskinfo says the following which confused me even more. Is it supposed to be this way?

Today I've seen 2 bsod on 2 different ticket machines at my local train station.
I'm late as hell, probably not arriving in time for the exam, but at least I laughed. -
So I dualbooted Linux Mint with Windows 10 on one of my friends computers and we were able to.boot into both OSes boot now whenever he boots into Windows 10 he gets something that's assumeably a bsod(the blue screen with the sad smiley), in order to dualboot I disabled secureboot and fastboot. Did anyone try this before? If so, what was the fix for this issue/what could be causing this to happen?10

I'm fairly confident that my PC has grown sentient, and is fucking with me on purpose.
It crashes about 2-3 times a day, but never when I'm actually on it, only when I go to the bathroom, to the store or out with friends so that I don't get to see the error on the BSOD. -
In high-school we had comp science classes which obviously hardly had anything to do with real stuff. In fact, our teacher was really clueless, so we decided to fool her. I made a tiny app that took a screenshot and set it as its background while being full screen and with hidden cursor. So it basically looked as if the computer was frozen. I also made it so pressing alt+f4 would set the background to a fake BSOD image. Next class we fired it up, the teacher tried everything to unfreeze the computer. She obviously failed, so we told her to try alt+f4. BSOD came up, she tried to fix it by hitting on the side of the PC. That didn't work so she unplugged it from the wall socket. We barely managed to not burst out in laugh, it was absolutely hilarious 😂

Ouch - got my first Windows blue screen in years! (Lacking a picture of it, I stole this one from the interwebs)
Cause: The LITE-ON SSD cache drive. So, can't blame MS for this one, but BSODs are great flamebait regardless of cause.
The SSD was 3 years old, which seems a very short life span for an SSD, unless it's an OCZ.

Ok so I'm a student so I don't have a boss but man this one kid who is the lead of my programming team. I swear he works with a 10ft pole up his a**. Maybe that's why he is so tall 🤔. Anyways he is a nerd and by far my LEAST favorite person ever. I wish nothing but BSODs in his future. He is a devrant user but I'm not gonna name him to hurt his feelings. *cough* ewpratten *cough* but im.pretty sure he copy pastas 🍝 his code from stack schools and pastes it in our mainframe robot.

I hate Windows! BSOD and many other *famous* errors waste my time resolving them.
This happens to me every 6 months and it is so fucking annoying !
The system repairs are so fucking futile! They take so much time *attempting repairs* and in the end give me a failure message.

What do you do when the bsod bsods? Apparently one of the ram sticks died while the pc was running so windows died with it. It's a lovely thing to fix at Christmas at relatives.

Computer does a BSOD right at the end of a tiebreaker competitive overwatch match where the enemy is about to cap the point and win. I'm one of the tanks. Hard reboot and back in the game within 45s. Just barely hold them off in overtime and win the match. Epic!

Need to install android studio and sdk 24, but have to install sdk 25 first. Oh comcast is having a degradation in my area and im down to .5 mb/s. Its ok i didnt want to start learning ionic last night. Nooo i wanted to wait until after i get home today.
Oh yeah, something broke my windows install last night and i had to reformat so i got to install it twice after spending hours installing all the other things i need thanks to dsl speeds.

In an in-house beta our product was causing blue screens. We had some the crash reports and a I dug out the technical notes in how to decipher that gibberish. Still no real clue, but there was an address happened where it was supposed to happen. So I dumped our binary into two reversing tools, jumped to that address and looked at the surrounding code.
And sure there it was: A missing check when manipulating a C-string which could lead to out of bound access. Added a check BSOD's gone.1 -

3 years ago when I was a university student...
I have a classroom presentation with my friend a group of 4.
When I start presenting for about 5 minutes, my friend who control the PowerPoint Slide told everyone in the group the PC was about to restart.
Suddenly before we try to move a mouse to the update postpone button, it restart right away in front of the class and our eyes.
That day a whole class need to wait around half a hour to continue the presentation session.

Does anyone work on a bunch of local NPM modules wanna describe their workflow for local dev vs deploy?
I’ve got mine but it feels a little trashy. It’s basically one npm script to link all the local modules for dev and another which will npm install them in prod - is there a better way without adding more build tools?1 -

Fun news: apparently Windows XP simply crashes and throws a BSOD when attacked by WannaCry. It's actually non-updated Windows 7 machines that suffered the most. That's not to say XP is safe though.

Today I've experimented the windows' blue screen of death...
My windows partition was f*ck up.
I tried many fixes, like boot from grub (which very complicated), boot from a usb with ubuntu live version and run boot-repair.
Bit finally I ended up, make a live usb of windows 10, (tried 6 times before finding the good way to do it with uefi bios) and reset windows without deleting my personnal files.
I'm pretty much proud of me right now.2 -
Ok, so my laptop just shut itself down out of the blue while I was working. That's nice.
Just *click* dead. Not even a BSOD or anything. The *click* being the sound of the hdd stopping.
I thought it was a linux-related issue, but this time I was on windows, so it might be a hardware issue I guess...6 -
My Microsoft surface boots into a bsod after every windows update reboot... Hard reboot helps. While my desktop bios can't reboot with the reset button at all. Means, doesn't boot afterwards until 5 second power button hold...

Hellish day. 5 computers in my network started getting random bsod and random time, sometimes 1 or more hours apart, sometimes few minutes. After middle of the day only 2 computers of the 5 keeps getting bsod. Is this somekind of virus, I ran few scanners didn't found anything. And why this is happening only today and only these computers. Wtf7

I accidentally installed a malware on systrm some chinese software now appears with devices with this pc. And i am able to boot upto windows home screen. When services are starting my oc shows BSOD page fault. I ran diagnostic tools it showed 2100 error in hd 0. Can anyone help. I need to recover imp files from OS drive :(10 -
New laptop. HP z book. It stopped working so I had to have a new motherboard. After the new motherboard I kept getting BSOD. Got it upgraded to Win 10 (it was supposed to be runing this not 7). Still getting BSOD with the bonus of black screens wanting me to restore. Even better I've gotten No OS found on boot. My work won't let me have a Mac or exchange my laptop. But am I done yet? Fuck you.12

Has RAM quality just fallen off the deep end? I swear I remember a BSOD could mean just about anything, now it seems to be failing RAM every time.
Also, why am I troubleshooting it? I know a few programming languages, so suddenly I can fix anything plugged into a wall?14 -

I updated realtek PCIe controller drivers last weekend and somehow managed to fix BSOD. Took whole sunday couldn't play games.

I open Photoshop, I open an image, I start editing colors. I think to myself "I need to change units to pixels instead of inches". I open the "Preferences - Units" menu. I approach the mouse and click on the selection box for units.... My screens go crazy suddenly and I get a BSOD...
The computer reboots, refuses to repair, complains it can't write on the disk. I launch UBCD, start TestDisk, it tells me my MFT and the mirror MFT are both completely messed up and the partition contents as well... Wow wow... What the...?!
Complete reinstall.

So when windows cannot open a png with its standard image viewer without a file system error and while running sfc/scannow a bsod appears, maybe this old tablet shouldn't be used anymore, which already runs slow as hell...1
