What are you supposed to do in an environment where your peers can't take criticism on the code and their approach to problem solving? They like to take shortcuts which end of making the software less maintainable. Is it worth to convince them to use best practices and be labeled as a bad guy who keeps on ranting about stuff they don't understand?

I used to watch my brother code in Turbo C++, creating console games and doing university assignments. Writing something on the computer which transformed into something animated was such a wonderful revelation to me and that's when I started to learn bits and pieces of programming. Now, I'm a fill stack developer :)

I lose interest in my job whenever someone goes into my perfectly decoupled code and adds spaghetti code into it to make things just work for them. Sigh...when will people understand and learn to write maintainable software...

I find it very surprising that people at work are always reluctant to do code reviews. There are no standards in place and everyone is free to push whatever they want. There is Sonar but it doesn't catch bad logic. Don't know how are we going to deal with this technical debt.
