Guuuyyyssss
In my recent rant I told that I will go to an programming challange (or so) in Bonn, Germany.
Today my boss told me I can go if I present the competition to all other bosses in our department + I will be a participant in the "innovation section" of our department. YESS FUCKING YESSSSSSS
I could get fucking promoted jeeeeeeeeeeeee7 -
How to explode a .NET developer, give them this challange:
Write a method.
- I must HTTP Get any site (does not matter what), and return the result
- It must NOT be async, and must directly return the result string (No Task<string>)
- It must use HttpClient
- It must be in .Net framework 4.5 or lower
- No other nuget packages allowed
This was my job today and i want you to share my pain!11 -
Knowing the way you should be treated a super power. I am seeing a lot difference in my previous and the current manager. Ex-manager thought that we are robots and we work strictly 8 hours, if some problem came during the project execution, he asked questions which felt like I am answerable to unknowns and felt like that I am being blamed.
My new manager, whenever any problem comes, she takes it as a challange, she tries to solve it. There are quirks too but I feel a lot freedom now.
My anxiety is gone. I am only stressed sometimes which is a big upgrade for me.
I know better now that how I want to be treated, I am a person. Have feelings and yes I'm not perfect so lack basic things but I'm willing to improve.7 -
I said "Let's use C for this year's hashcode challange" as a joke.
Guess who's writing C code tomorrow3 -
When you spend 1 hour trying to solve a programming challange... And then realise "All integers starting with 1" means all integers from 1 to inf, and not all integers that begin with the digit 1. UUUGGH2

Now's the last minute at current company. Very mixed feelings about leaving. Working with the people there was such an amazing experience and the working conditions there were amazing. But I decided to move on because the pay was absolutely shit and the work itself was like making me feel burnt out. Its not like that I'm overworked. Its like no challange and my own expertise is not valued at all. Everything I work on is constantly held back by every minute thing so that I finish it months later than actually planned. I feel kinda bittersweet. And finishing off with a blast kinda makes it even worse to leave. As for the last day before christmas there is a big happy hour with a lot of free food and alcohol. Talking to all the ppl I've worked with over the years makes me wish it would not be like this. I already miss them. Its like having to say goodbye to a good friend. I guess I'll stop. It will only make it worse.1

i found playing with arduino is never-ending fun. and then i tried Raspi and feeling the same. now i buy a bunch of raspi and trying to cluster them up, just for another random project.
yeah this is clearly nonsense. this is myself when my boredom gets high enough. No, vacation is not helping, trust me i've been camping in a jungle for 5 days and the next week i go to the beach. this is bad.
making things worse, My way of life is like any ordinary people (or maybe a developers) but turned upside down for example I program, learning for fun, and going vacation is just another medical need that i need to follow.
I am an university student, studying IT. I've been programming since 6, and geeking anything around technology and astronomy till now. this is my third semester and i don't get challanged enough for this kind of curricullum. i need some kind of project that even i don't think about any number of money anymore, but just enough to challange me up. just need to get rid my boredom.
sorry for ranting from a to z, this is just buzzing around my mind. -
FINALLY.

In 6 month ready to challange C and C++ on performance vs time.12 -
Will start work probably next week after lots of searching. Few months without work was good life relatively. Wake up whenever you want to, browse reddit how much you want to, way more time to do things that want. Now in new job especially on trial period I will have to learn lot, also that rush to work if I do not want to end work late makes life worse. Full time jobs suck. Half day work would be better but to get even little shorter work week is a big challange. At least when was fired from previous job. Fuck that.
Also probably will take a non remote position because they claim it is low stress. But I believe their codebase sucks, they do not write tests. But they say they are planning to start writing tests. But still most important thing is low stress, but question is how in reality will there be low stress. Or will they fire me quickly even without causing me stress. It would be ideal to learn at least all the tech they are using, so that I would not lag too much because of this, but I have no idea how to quickly learn, I thinik I would need 2 hours after work for learning, which sucks that I will not be able to enjoy at least after work time.
Plus the fucking traffic jams. Why they can't have remote position. Especially when covid cases are growing. -
Hey guys, if you know of Logitechs headsettet (Artemis Spectrum G933) i wonder if you know of a fix to make it work for your phone without using the clunky adapter it comes with?5

so, if your TL gave you a task to update all the libraries of an app to their latest version, how are you going to go with it?
Honestly my first reaction was frustration and scare. Coz in android, its already very difficult to run a 1 year old project in the latest studio as a lot of things become incompatible with each other.
but thinking deeply, i think its a nice challange as a software dev.
i got 1 approach in mind ,the bomb blast approach : search for the latest versions of that lib in maven central and replace
any other , more sequential approach that you could think of?1
