*Working on app for client*
After review - “Can you make that font bigger?”
*Makes font larger*
After review a week later - “Can you make that font smaller?”
*Puts font back to original size*
Another review later on - “Can you make that font bigger?”
*Keeps font at same size and changes nothing*

When top level guys look down they see only shit... 💩
When bottom level guys look up they see only assholes.. 👍7 -
I'm afraid to post anything connected with my job because I know that sooner or later every dev will have account on devRant7

It's so frustrating when you're trying to power through a development but get constantly interrupted by phone calls, coworkers, project managers, meetings, emails and IM.
Just let me work!!3 -
No one is going to hold your hand in the real world.
Now go on and fuck up some more so you can learn more.3 -
Holy fucking shit.
Why do people always expect you to know absolutely everything the second they ask?!
PM: "Yes yes of course we can do that!!! We've done it a million times, we do it for breakfast HAHAHAHAHA"
ME: "Well not really, we've never implemented a solution like that one, its gonna take some time to figure it out"
PM: "HAAAAHAHAHA HE'S SOO FUNNYY LMAOFUDKSJ DONT WORRY WELL HAVE IT READY FOR TOMMORROW :P".
Holy fuuuck I understand you wanna make the sell but you need to give the costumer a realistic look at things, at least give a reasonable deadline for what he's asking! FFS ASK ME HOW COMPLICATED ARE THE THINGS HES ASKING FOR BEFORE TELLING HIM WHEN THEY'RE GONNA BE READY! MAKE A FUCKING ESTIMATE, WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A TEAM!
Oh and this rant is gonna happen, dont care if I get fired. This needs to change.3 -
-2000 : C# planned to copy entire Java and Java said C# won't be able to.
-2003 : C# copies Java and Java complained
-2005 : C# denied he didn't copy Java and Java laughed
-2008 : C# started to be more than Java and Java felt sick
-2010 : C# became more mature AND Java home defunct (Sun MicroSystems)
-2013 :Java plan to copy C# and C# laughed
-2015 :Java copied C# and C# laughed
-2017 :Java still can't copy C# and C# is laughing
-2018 no one will copy their neighbor and WE HOPE SO.11 -
Long rant ahead.
Holy shit is this hard.
I'm not a dev, but I'm working really hard to become one. I come home from work every day at 7:00pm and study between 3 and 5 hours of coding, and finally I'm starting to make decent responsive web pages. I got excited, finally the studies are paying off and I guess I got carried away and told a "friend" about it.
"What?, But making web pages its fucking easy anybody can do web pages! I did mine with dreamwiever, is that even considered development"
And there goes my self steem holy shit..I know, I know its not development, Im not a programmer neither do I pretend to be one but holy shit.
I guess I wish some people would anderstand the amount of effort that can go into an app or web..21 -
Productivity hacks:
1. Make sure the client understands that you wont be taking there BS.
2. Remind the client that the fact they know HTML means fuckall and that you wont be taking advice from them about all the javascript libraries you are supposed to use.
3. Tell PMs to be decisive and think before making decisions.
4. Fuck windows updates. Use linux/mac.
5. Keep a loaded gun on your desk to deter any person from disturbing you when you are in your zone.
6. Use the gun to end pointless meetings to decide the background color of some div on the website.
Use at your own caution though.6 -
My productivity hack? I code in the shower and use a water whiteboard. I have to be up very early and feel the most clear headed right when I wake up.
If I'm stumped on something, I can usually tackle it from a new perspective. For the most part it works out. Other then the occasional profanity if I accidentally erase something and the sometimes longer than usual showers, my wife doesn't mind. Usually because it's 5 in the morning and when she takes a shower there is this scribble that she tries to decode!1
