I am working on a personal project for 4 years now and after year 1 I learned something:
Write your code as if every other developer is stupid.
Because you are that developer in a year.3 -
Anyone here willing to validate my development tool idea by filing in 5 yes/no questions?
https://forms.gle/MjTdCUXnwcd2T3ix6
Many thanks!3 -
Turned on this old phone after 4 years, devrant was the only app still working without needing to update and logged in 👌
"I have a date! 😍
var date = DateTime.Now;"
Was still stuck in concepts waiting to be posted on here 🤣6 -
30hr non stop programming during university. Self proclaimed "best programmer" did not have shit the day before the deadline while he said he was done 2 weeks before that.
He also proclaimed being the "best leader" and kept trying to take that role from the one we decided on before he joined the group.
He also proclaimed amd lied about making all the documentation to save his own ass and trowing us under the bus while we did not even mention saving his ass.
And much more.
My blood still starts to boil when i see the guy. -
@dfox & @trogus
Since there are less people around can we lower the requirements for the free stress ball back to 100++?
I know I can just buy one but earning one is so much better 😁4 -
Just learned that my employer withhold part of my salary every month the past 5 months! I did not notice it as it was overtime compensation.
I first thought maybe it was a mistake so I asked, the reply I got was: Oh you know that compensation we agreed upon? I wasn't having it anymore so I decided to half it and been since then editing the hours you billed every week to reflect that and accedently forget to tell you.
Accedently?! My ass! One week is believable but not 20 weeks. The only reason I found out is that they tried to lower the compensation even further which caused these hours to show up differently in the hour declaration software we use.
So currently on my way to return company's property and quit.17 -
What is the longest class name you ever wrote? Mine is:
AutoRenewTokenRetryOnceOnUnauthorizedAuthorizedServerHttpService6 -
Two words, red bull.
I dont drink coffee often or drink it otherwise, so it gives a real kicker to the old brain.4 -
Well this weekly rant topic comes a few weeks to soon....
Ah what the hell, my most successful dev project is hopefully this: https://codeglass.io
Why: well that is why this topic comes to soon, I can't disclose anymore than there is on the website for now, release will hopefully be this month.
It is pretty awesome. It deserves to be called next generation. -
"Did you know that this popup saved the life of countless API calls by preventing users from frantically clicking the 'Continue' button?'
Another funny line I added to a dialog in my project today as one of its finishing touches :D -
Today i got to add this to my code:
"Shame on you pirate! A subscription only cost 2 cups of coffee; what are we supposed to drink now?"
Having a bit of fun with the finishing touches of my personal project :D8 -
I will reiterate my goal of 2020 and 2021:
Finish my personal project and bring it to market!
It will happen this year, I swear! 🤣2 -
2019:
Working fulltime on my personal project.
2020:
Publishing my personal project to the public.
Its gonna be a good year!2 -
Multiple friens asked if I could help someone with her "laptop".
Me: so I hear that you have problems with your laptop?
She: oh yea let me get my laptop.
A minute later she comes back with an iPad mini.
She: I cant get this app to work!
How can they all call that a laptop! *facepalm*9 -
Tldr; Do not go to the bathroom when you are stuck on a problem.
Most of you will know that when you are stuck on a problem for a while, that it is worth to take a break to look at the problem with a fresh pair of eyes.
It's good advice and I have been doing it for years, however now I have developed a problem with it.....
I don't drink coffee or tea often so when I'm stuck I always take a bathroom break and most of the time an Idea will pop into my head how to solve the problem.
The problem now is that everytime when I am even a little bit stuck I need to go to the bathroom even when I just went.
It's really annoying because now I need to find something else to use as a break because my brain has associate being stuck with needing to go to the bathroom.
It's probably not a good idea to take a coffee break instead because if my brain starts to associate that I will be a coffee addict in no time.... Haha
Do any of you have a good suggestion to use as a break?8 -
I found something really interesting depicted in the image.
It is because of memory alignment / padding.
I could explain it to you guys, but this url would do a far better job:

I have some really satisfying bug fixes in one particular project but it's under NDA.
So I'm not allowed to tell you guys any of them :(1 -
*It's too early*
Opened a rant and read it, then I started furiously started double tapping before I realized that that does not work there.
EDIT:
wait that works, I should really go back to bed.1 -
My room fan broke last week, and they were sold out everywhere.
So i build one myself (last rant), but after a while it just blew hot air.
So after some work I have this :) Now it even has RGB :')

My room fan broke today....
And it has been hot for a while now in The Netherlands, so every store I went to sold out.
So I made one myself :)
On a side note, my pc temperature has never been lower :')18 -
New Holiday idea: Bring your console to work day.
To show what your doing in the time you are not playing with them.
PS. Not sexist, your game PC can also come. -
Got my new workstation.
Isn't it a beauty?
Rocking a Pentium II 366 MHz processor.
6 GB HDD.
64 MB SDRAM.
1 minute of battery life.
Resolution up to SXGA (1280x1024)
Removable CD-Rom drive.
1 USB port (we like to use dongles, right?)
Also it has state of the art security:
- No webcam
- No Mic
- Removable WiFi
- I forgot the password
And best of all:
It as a nipple to play with!!31
