Try not to use floating point numbers in places where precision is important. Like for instance, money. Always store the base value where it makes the most sense15

A friend asked me to test a program he made
So i downloaded it, and i noticed that i crash when you try to minimize the window
After i tell him about the bug, he send me a new version, and said "I fixed it, it was pretty easy"
He just removed the minimize button
"to remove a bug, remove the feature"4 -
- Premature optimization is bad and wastes your time
- You need to see the big picture
- Always add extra hours to your estimates
- Test your feature like a QA engineer; look for the edge cases2 -
People are worried that AI will replace them in their jobs.
But guys.
We are still using php.
I think we are safe for the next 200 years.18 -
Been taking a course on php and I'm currently working through a cms project. It's just so satisfying learning how all the data communicates from frontend to backend.4

At work I use C# / .net but outside work I use PHP / Laravel.
I notice they are very similar.
Also .net used “razor”
Laravel uses “blade” - “razor blade”
Is there some sort of overlap between .net and laravel I’m not aware of?5 -
PHP sucks balls,
It takes forever to do anything, it is so messy it feels like walking through a massive pile of shit!
Ok good I have your attention and that ++ 😇
But no this is not that kind of rant, quite the opposite.
In 70 lines of php shit as some people would call it, I am currently scrapping GitHub pages with ebook collections and with some minor regex pulling PDFs out and saving them to file.29 -
Pigeon programming: managers who used to be Devs come to 'have a look' at the code, take a crap all over everything, and then leave.1

Just watched the intern pull a beer from the beer fridge, and it's only 11:15am. What a fucking champion.17 -
Although I love developing I always thought that there was something missing.
I learned Java but didn't really like it. I had spent quite some time with web development and enjoyed it but I felt like developing with JavaScript was too high level and I felt the same for Python.
So I started learning the most awesome programming language: C
I just love that I have so much control over everything and that the language is so compact and gives you just the right amount of tools you need.
I also love physics and electronics a lot and it feels awesome to first build something and then program it.
I am looking forward to design a PCB (printed circuit board) and write code for an AVR microcontroller like the Atmega328 (most arduinos use this one).
Picture of the project I am working on.10 -
I decided to go back to freelancing.
But there's a lot more devs than before, and I almost forgot how difficult it was to attract clients.
Oh, and I can't believe I forgot about their shitty attitudes. I don't think a nice client even exists.7
