Xamarin is, hands down, the most annoying fucking thing I've worked with. Like more annoying than windows crashes and random fucks asking me to hack shit.
I am so tired and frustrated, after every work day. It's like I'm trading bug for bug.7 -
It's been a long time since I last posted, I saw it as a good thing - I hadn't had stuff to complain about.
Until my fucking idiot mush-for-brains asswipe roommate locked me out of my own apartment!
Fucker is squatting with me, and while I'm away for work, decides it would be a great idea to change the locks and conveniently forget to mention it.
It's taking a lot of energy not kicking him out.1 -
This privacy fever isn't bad, at least companies have to pretend to give a fuck a little more now. But the effects aren't all good!
I have updated every app on my android phone at least 2 times in the last 2 - 3 weeks. Argh! Every one of them using the "updates to our privacy policies" card. -
Currently working on a new project with a group of people, (about 8 guys, no ladies 😒).
Anyways, out of the eight, there are only 3 devs, 3 designers and 2 main idea guys. I'm a member of all 3 sets and to top it of, the other designers don't know what they are doing.
Life is beautiful, fucking beautiful.2 -
"Google it" and "don't be afraid of complex code, someone wrote it" - A fellow student at the time.2
-
Bucket list!
- Host my current webapp project.
- Hit 2k ++'s
- Achieve Zen, a few times
- Start a new remote job
- GET A NEW LAPTOP
- GET A GIRLFRIEND (The recurring item)
There's alot more, but for now these should do.8 -
I just got a new phone, a Tecno device with a measly 8GB internal storage. Decided I'll have to root it, and force part of my class 10, 32GB mem card as adopted storage.
Went online, learnt for a few weeks, successfully rooted, and began enjoying the vast benefits.
But there are no good endings. Months later, while doing some heavy gaming, my phone reboots... and everything on the memory, pack up and go on a vacation... -
This rant has nothing to do with devRant, normally. But God. This is what my Alma mata is doing to it's students for not coming to church with writing materials!
To give context, It's a " Christian school" called Covenant University in Nigeria.7 -
How do you deal with excessive praise, especially from people without any knowledge if the stuff you do.
It messes with me because I kinda feel like some of the shit is easy, so it's like I'm getting too much. -
Machine learning is hard! Spent a whole day with Weka and it's Neural Networks. God my brain. There is too much to know before being really equipped to use this tool... especially from code.6

Roommate: I thought you aren't into social media...
Me: This is devRant, it's different.
Roommate: How so.
Me: It's for like minds, very well structured and has this fun feature which let's me create myself as a cartoon for my profile pic.
Next Day..........…......……
Me: (walks into the room) Why are you laughing and why are you using my phone.
Roommate: I THINK I LOVE THIS APP. I might actually download it.
Note: Roommate is a musician who studied CS in school.7 -
For some reason, my roommate thinks Facebook can track his and all our calls.
I don't know the beginning or the end of what they can/can't do, but that just has to be BS... right?12 -
So my annoying roommate, an upcoming musician & I got into an argument, and although that happens quite often, today was different.
We were talking about 💰, and he said "money is everyone's motivation". I completely disagreed and now I'm bringing it to my fellow ranter's.
I know it's 'a motivation' but is it that big of one?5 -
I've been away from devRant (and other social media) for a few days because I thought i needed to concentrate on a project that I'm currently working on.
I just realized that I need this, I really need to rant! There is just too much to rant about. Like how fuckin annoying tomcat is, (don't ask me, someone is paying for me to use it), or how eclipse is happily hugging over 1gb of my ram, ( again don't ask), meanwhile vscode is doing just the same thing (debugging a tomcat server) with less than 300mb! There's so much to be annoyed about that I truly don't know how I was getting along before devRant.2 -
What kinda music do devs usually listen to while working? My friends (devs) say I'm weird.
Idk, but I listen to slow melodious songs. Am I upsetting the order of things and breaking unspoken, universal laws by listening to Birdy or Ed Sheeran while coding!24 -
Everyone has those ideas they thought of and were like, 'that would be rad!' but couldn't execute because of an array of reasons.
Well, two weeks ago I got approached by some people who had *thatmyidea* and were willing to pay me and any devs of my choice, to build it.
We've finished getting requirements and now I'm getting paid to work with devs I love, on a project I love!2 -
I didn't really plan to study computer science, it just kinda happened. So when a few years into school my GPA was low my mom concluded it wasn't right for me.
Thing is, I knew I was good at programming and problem solving and so did my classmates. I even helped people who the school system said were smarter than I was.
So now I am constantly doing projects and freelancing with hopes that I'll prove myself to her.
... -
I took this freelance job from an undergrad student, her *final project* in her final year.
It's a cool idea with NLP and I was excited. Did three webpages as a show of my prowess and discussed an amount with her after she was satisfied... she seemed okay with the pricing.
Fast forward, three weeks pass and I don't hear from her (we had agreed that I would have to carry her along, so she could defend it). After alot of unanswered msgs, I stop working, assuming she's changed her mind.
Present Day. I stumble into her and I ask what the hell happened?
She: "I thought you were working on it!"
Me: "Jesus Christ! What about my messages?!"
She: ...
"But, we kinda have only till the 28th of the month before final defense..."
F***, now I'll spend my birthday month rush coding and fixing bugs that I could have done at my own pace! -
It's so frustrating, how people don't want to pay well for services and all, but what's more frustrating is that I don't even know how much to ask for most times! 😥
