Designer reporting a UI/Design related bug:

I noticed the wrong colour is being used on screen X. It should be xxxxx. Its imperative that we fix this, as it destroys the entire design motif. Our colour scheme draws influence from the ancient Mayans. They were relentless in their pursuit of excellence, whether it be their temples, their sophisticated writing system, their complex calendars, or their advanced mathematics.They sought immortality through their work, as do we with ours. Users will become lost in our onboarding unless we harmonise the flow, the slightest deviation could be catastrophic. Please fix this as priority 1, to avoid running the balance of the app

Designer reporting a technical bug:

Oh yeah, app crashed last week. Not sure what I was doing, maybe look into that

bought a cdp ups, because energy service can be shitty in the town I live.

Everything is fine and dandy with the ups, has a nice lcd but it also has a usb cable and dvd with a so called "upsilon 2000" software. One week after buying the ups I decided to venture with the mother fucker software.

Installed the software, looks awful, like a software that made his way from the 90s to this day... it doesn't show the ups... I left it like that... nothing unsual, then my fucking curiosity picked up and I look into the software options and here you go, changed the "communication type" from serial to usb, and ups was recognized, and even nicer, windows started showing a battery icon like if this desktop was a laptop. I was thrilled... until I restarted my pc for whatever reason

gpu decided to break, like if the drivers weren't installed, was laggy, my second screen didn't work, in device manager the video adapter was shown as "generic video adapter". 😡, immediately I blame nvidia cuz I just updated those drivers the day before.

So I started my journey to get the fucking video card working as it should again. installed DDU, reinstalled newest drivers again... didn't work, used ddu again, installed last known drivers again... didn't work, used ddu, installed drivers from windows update... nothing... after some panicking time, I remembered that besides from updating the nvidia drivers I installed that upsilon shit recently... So I decided to uninstall it, and that was the fix, fucking shady software.

It was very naive from me to not blame that upsilon before blaming everything else.

Meeting about brand new web app system to replace an ancient MFC app.
director: can we just use the old subsystem manager? (horrible mix of management ui and SOAP listeners in the same app...)
developers: No, that's an MFC app... not even just a server.
director: but... can't you just plug it in? you're using web components right?
developers: *weary sigh*

Can't wait until I'm done at my current workplace (about a month left). I've had enough of this fucking shitty ass ancient ASP.Net ERP-system and employer.

For the system:
1. The build times are horrendous and eats up all CPU power.
2. The "classic" UI and UX is absolute garbage. If I was an accountant, I would go nuts trying to invoice someone. Companies pay millions to use this garbage.
3. Besides the "classic UI", there is a mishmash of different JS frameworks plastered on top.
4. Absolute no fucking technical documentation whatsoever
5. The in-house relational database is a mess, no relations, entirely denormalized, no documentation.
6. The frontend is structured in HTML tables with iframes inside <td>

The company:
1. If you're a implementation consultant and you quit your job, you get stripped off all your projects, you won't get to join anything social and you're placed on 1st line support for three months. They might as well force them out.
2. Anyone can work from home anytime they feel like it without any valid reasons, and believe me they do.
3. The senior devs are overworked as all hell. By the end of the year, some of them have hundreds of flextime hours and won't get anything in return.
4. The CEO seems like a jolly guy, but when you quit, he doesn't like you at all. He also acts like a bigshot, always getting driven around meetings when there is literally a very good metro network in this city.

AI boffins. Get a move on with this conversational UI stuff. Typing is getting old now.

Then two years later, when I'm bored of that, I want to just *think* the text onto the screen.

found an old config file on my external drive for all my torrent files. awyisss. my SSD died out of nowhere last year and I thought I lost all my torrent configs! I had hundreds of TV series and stuff and I kept track which ones I watched and didn't in the client. so when the SSD died I lost all my knowledge of my progress. but I found this config file just now and imported it. omg booyah. I think I got one show since this backup. godsend

decided to export settings again and it said I can set it on a schedule. go to the scheduler tab in the settings and I have no clue what's going on. nothing about exporting settings, it just has schedule configurations that seem to conflict. then I realized. the main client maybe has a schedule tab icon. bam am right. so in settings I turn on scheduler and then the main app gives me access to the scheduler tab and if I go there I can click "add" and then I can schedule regular config backups

bruh this UI is so jank. but it actually is impressive. because. while I have experience in designing websites, when I played around with making a GUI in rust, which would be native, I have absolutely no clue how to make an app on this tech. now I'm looking at this complex torrent client with its bazillion features in absolute awe.

I can only aspire to be so genius as to allow you to turn on and remove tabs in the settings menu. now it makes sense why all the windows always had awkwardly sized panels. this genius man.

honestly somehow it never occurred to me that native apps and web apps would have totally different ergonomics. I feel like I've found some kind of lost art from the ancient world. aaaaaaa
