I once participated in a programming competition. We named our team "NameNotFoundException". Although we didn't win but a few days later we got a call from the organizing committee. They thought that there was something wrong with their system and wanted to know the name of our team. We laughed our asses off.

Young enthusiastic computer science student here. Was quite a long time silent reader of rants and other posts. Love this community. Today my raspberry arrived, looking forward to work with it and I just wanted to share my happiness!

Impulse bought a book on how to draw chibi animals. First attempt wasn’t _awful_.

Notepad++ is best. It take seconds to launch and provide color schemes for every language and its indentation is really good.

I'm currently working in call center. Making them a management system for agents. I'm the only developer there. No one asks about the progress even the owner doesn't know a thing about softwares. This gives me a freedom to do work when I want and how fast I want. But because of this I don't care anymore about the little things. and I have adopted some bad programming habits during my stay. Should I quit or what?

So in Germany we have something like 'cooperative study'. You are employed in a company and study 'normal' at a university. This is in 3 month phases, i.e. 3 months working, 3 months studying.

At the moment I'm working and there is a colleauge, that seems to have no high confidence in my programming skills.
Today I saw parts of his NodeJS code and I thought I'm going crazy.
No comments, no real usage of callbacks or at least promises and I dont want to talk about naming of the variables.
I caught myself arguing with this guy too often and always thought I'm the stupid one, that doesn't understand him.
But I'm starting to think, He is the one that is hard to understand.

How ever, I stay confident and also keep a nice tone (also help as much as I can) and sometimes we also have the same thoughts in some topicd. It's not that bad, but sometimes I feel underestimated.

But hey, so it's a bigger surprise if I'm presenting my results and show them what I'm able to do 👍🏻

Finally did overcome myself to install Linux on my Desktop PC!
Its only Ubuntu for now, but I did install Arch Linux on a latop some time ago. So you could say, things are getting serious 🤓

Our timetable for lectures are online as "rapla" eventsystem. I want to write a small app including a timetable. As I didn't found any way to get the lectures as JSON (Bad documentation of API) but only as formated (and ugly) HTML View, I just wrote a small node module that parses the html body with cheerio and fetches all needed data of each entry in a week. Worked out pretty well, will add more functionality.
Never felt so independent 🙌🏻

I have about a week of holidays left before my classes start and I'm thinking about creating a notepad with password protection and cloud sync so it can be accesed on other devices.

So this is how it will work.
Probably the same interface as windows notepad so no one notices. It can be used to write a personal diary or anything that you don't want other people to know. It will ask for a 4 digit code when you open it(at first you'll see some text, you'll just enter you pin after that text and without pressing enter if you pin is write you'll see the text changes to your previously saved text and if your pin is wrong no error will be displayed itll work as a normal text editor for intruders and probably this wrong pin will be sent to you on you emil with other info). Now even if yoy minimize the window you'll have enter the pin again or even your windows gets out of focus. So you can have it open all the with out worrying.

I'll be using C# for this which I have no experience with. But I'll get it so no problem here.

Provide your feedback on this with some suggestions.

Dad was (and is) a technic freak, I played as kid with electronics instead of toys.
I'm always interested to modify things to feel more individual (Own Skins in game, modding, ...)

This and the love to games (-> "I wannaa make my own videogame daddy") developed into a curious computer science student working at IBM that loves to learn anything related to it and I'm so freaking happy about it! ☺️

Finally came to the point, using mocha, jshint together with Travis CI for some of our coding projects and I freaking love it 👍🏻

Actually I just started learning Android App Development and I was curious what stack do you guys use for devRant Android App. And while we are on this can you guys share the stack you use for IOS app and Web app. Thank you and by the way you've done a really good job with android app.

Who else hates the mental asylum inspired Picasso “art” used by google and as seen in our devrant avatars? I think it’s one of the most hideous art styles there is. Why can’t we be kawaii isometric chibi characters or something.
