GitLab CE crashed after doing a reconfigure, something with the LetsEncrypt client. Hours of debugging later it suddenly works again and the letsencrypt client doesn't throw errors either.
Happy that it works again but I'd like to know WHY it suddenly works again after I pretty much changed nothing (or, I did, but I put everything back to the original values every time a suggestion doesn't work).
Grrrrrrr.2 -
I like, that many code hosting sites are shutting down (Google Code, Codeplex). This does not mean those sites are bad.
The ones I like and use are GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket (and most personal ones like Gogs or GitLab CE).
Here is my list of the sites I don't like:
- Sourceforge
- SF
- sf.net
- sourceforge.net8 -
Fuck you windows 10. Fuck you private keys. Fuck you tortoise git. Fuck you git bash. Fuck you cygwin. Want 3x hours of my life back. Had an auth problem... Had to reinstall all the above on windows to connect to my private repo. Took me 5 minutes to connect after reinstalling all the tools. Grrrrrrr. And I'll never know why it wouldn't connect apart from fatal protocol error: bad line length character..I tried ever stack overflow answer... I nearly bricked my gitlab CE...and it was windows being a motherslut8

My coworkers are always too busy to learn new things ... and the only thing they adopted is git... other than that its just a clusterfuck of spaghetti code that everybody develops the way they see fit...
at least we are using a local (because reasons) gitlab-ce that I managed to install on the shadows and kind of introduced it without disrupting their way of pulling pushing ...
and they didn't even log in there , only once.. to create the account 😐
why don't people have any passion to learn? :/2 -
Just delayed a push to Prod. because of this motherfucking shit:

It never occurred to me to even look. FUCK.15 -
Not a rant more like a question
Hello devRant,
I am currently planning to purchase a small home server + media client (with Kodi).
A small Linux Distro running the Hometheateroftware Kodi will run on the media clients (Odroid C2). The control is then over an app over the local network. The database of Kodi should be on the server in the form of a MySQL database. The movies, pictures, music are also streamed by the server (max. 2 simultaneously) via SMB (simplest variant). In addition, the server is to be accessible to the outside via a web interface to act as a cloud (maybe nextcloud). The whole should be optimized for stability and longevity. In addition, a small GitLab CE instance will probably run on the server. Do you have any comments or objections? The fact that I only take 2x ne 2 TB hard drive has the simple reason that I currently have no need for more space. Sometimes it happens to me that I forget completely obvious things :D -
I frikin' love updating Gitlab, every time I do, I feel a sense of dread that some part of the process breaks and I will have to dive head first into the huge thing, with almost no knowledge of how the internals work!
