Hey fellow humans!
I'm new here! Stoked to have found this awesome community!
I'm looking forward to all your rants!7 -
It says here https://lingolex.com/ants.htm that ant brain has 250000 brain cells, so 40000 ants add up to one human.
The biggest unitary colony found so far has something over 300 millions of ants. They also form federations also called megacolonies and those spread across large areas and are estimated over a billion.
They have insect version of agriculture and they can decide what is the purpose of an ant when it's egg is laid (also depends on time of the year). They don't fight other ants with the same smell, which pretty much carries down.
What are they thinking about all day? Are they like "let's lay three more billions and then take over" or is it more like "how does my butt smell to you? let's eat that leaf" Because if they have hive mind as they say then they add up to some serious intelligence :-|

When some weirdo accused me of being a hive mind with a team behind me. The best compliment I’ve ever received.4

Good evening programmers, IT's, devranters and memeians.
I would like to use a little bit of your collective conciousness - the hive mind if you will.
I've been working on my automation system for quite a while and I've received some exposure from non-programmers - which resulted in more questions than suggestions.
I would like to ask you guys to give me some suggestions as to what I could add to my system.. that is, if you have time..
The program in short (if you don't want to read the readme file) is an automation system scriptable in pure Lua.
It utilizes Selenium for web automations, NAudio for audio operations and Moonsharp as an interpreter.
While my tester friends say that they use it for the actual testing, I myself found it very useful in writting bots (for browser games for example).
Here's the github link: https://bit.ly/2GDu92g
Thanks a ton!
PS. Here's an unrelated image to draw your attention.6 -
This may be a dumb question, but are there any benefits in learning c instead of going straight to c++ for microcontrollers? I'm in my first ee semester and wondered, because we are learning c and java (next semester), but not c++2

I am honestly flattered by the fact that @scor really, unironically thinks that “by the frequency and varsity and depth you post and comment and self imaging”, I can't be a single person, and there is a whole TEAM behind me!
Honestly, I don't care about insults. Neither yours, nor of that schmuck that is salty because he posted some stupid misogynic shit a while ago, I reposted it as a screenshot, and he was obliterated by the community.
I'm only posting this because people out there legitimately think I'm a hive mind. It's not every day that you're told whatever you do cannot be done by one person. To me, this is more of a compliment.
Looking past devRant, I would like to meet @scor and other haters IRL. I have no hard feelings. I'm just an autistic person with bipolar disorder. I post whatever I want, as it's somewhat therapeutic.
You don't have to acknowledge it, but here's an honest, personal message: if you at any point compare yourself to me and lose, remember, my personality and creativity is a negligent, slight payoff for a literal hell that is a mental disorder. My thoughts are thinking themselves. I can't control them. My body is twitching constantly. I'm both actively anxious and always tired. My intellect suffers a massive penalty in a depressive phase, like now.
Finding at least some positive side to that hellscape is absolutely vital, and any person with a disorder can tell you that.
The fact that I'm social, I have friends and a job is a miracle. I'm privileged. I've seen a lot of people less lucky than me. They weren't able to monetize their troubled, sharp brain. I was.21 -
i think we're experiencing the downsides of a decadent civilization without the decadence heh however much sense that makes.
we're not really progressing or evolving we're on the path of gradual stagnation an de-evolution.
I tell you getting rid of these gross fucks would be a nice step in the right direction. I used to think like hillbillies and the like were gross. Well I don't really want to go into this again, but how to make people want to learn and want to live instead of just forcing everyone to just wait till they die and fooling dumb young people into thinking this is somehow going to benefit them continuously because its the lesser of two unnecessary evils ?
Its like trying to fix a hive mind with one wrench, you can only brain part of it the rest remains.
I just listened to the same oddly convincing fake jesus people speak about their day, before wandering by their poor younger coworkers or victims or whatever they were.15 -
I've recently started learning to program mcu's in c and i'm trying to get spi to work using the attiny's usi-interface.
It's f*cking hard!4
