A few hours of analyzing and programming further I 'reverse engineered' the website and wrote a CLI tool which works perfectly fine!

Even though things like these are simple, they always make me feel like I'm a tiny God of sorts 😊

Why is it so hard to just build machines that work without all this ideological bullshit? Code doesn't care if politics==true. The world is scary enough without you assholes making modern life a data minefield for even the most educated experts, and taking advantage of the ignorance of everyone else. Fuck you.
I just wanna <look at web pages> without having to consider, counteract, or silently assist some fucking regime. Why is EVERYTHING this way? Everything is a back door or a data mine or a political statement? This isn't a fucking art piece! It's not your espionage tool, fucking codes in invisible ink and tiny cameras and shit everywhere! It's a <web browser>, and if it does ANYTHING besides <browse the web> that I didn't explicitly tell it to do, you better better not be the one who made it. Because if you did, you are what's wrong with the world.

In 2020 I want to achieve:
- develop a proper custom deployment tool (for job)
- get my boss to finally approve of me doing code reviews (we have 0 reviews 🙄, tiny company)
- never have to work on WordPress ever again
- develop or set up a company internal package repo (alt. to NPM)
- get a new contract
- get 3 open side projects done

(non-dev)
- buy some more furniture and make the appartment finally cozy and a happy place to live
- finally get over the negative thoughts of that antisocial ex
- go indoor climbing 3 days of the week, to get rid of those developer fat cushions... 😅

Apart of the fact that WordPress itself is one big hack, my most creative hacky solution was making it (dev) environment friendly.

First, I created a DB pull and push tool in NodeJS (on TypeScript). Then, because WP is so clever and stores internal URLs in full length in the DB, I had to create a DB migrator (find & replace) and attached it to the DB pull task.
After this, of course WP still has its config in one file, so I used composer to install phpdotenv and filled the config with environment variables.
Bundled with some good ol' Gitlab CI/CD magic, the website is now 10% sanely developable.

It feels like having to shovel piles of shit, but with a golden shovel. Everything stinks as hell but at least there is a tiny bling to it, temporarily.

But in all seriousness: WordPress is a god damn fucking pile of tumors!

Maaaan, we all knew it was coming, we were warned, again and again, yet still, when Lets Encrypt's old root CA expired today, we found out a tool we were using to get new certs (Not cerbot, custom wrapper around acme-tiny) included the old root in the chain.

So... A few hours ago, some of our servers started having connection issues.

Great final 3 hours of today. Better luck next time I guess? Still, despite the little hickup, Lets Encrypt still remains as one of the biggest revolutions in the adoption of SSL, they're the good guys.

I honestly hate writing code. I hate debugging off-by-one bugs. I hate debugging in general. My fingers are weary from 11 years of this shit. I've spent 1 hour designing + implementing this tool in C, only to have spent 11+ hours debugging this tiny thing.

Ultimately, I hate the precision the damn computer demands. It's a prissy little bitch I want to hate fuck.

To make something impactful. I don't want to be fully credited, though being able to point to it in interviews would be great.

While working, I constantly segment my product into tiny reusable abstract solutions, most of which I eventually publish. I want some of these to grow into popular solutions to the problem I had or some other similar issue. Or, I want one of my major projects to become either a tool or an inspiration in something significant, but frankly the point is that some people appreciate something I created.

Need UX opinion.

I need to make a menu which is a single point for everything. Hierarchical menus is the default nowdays, but they get tedious as the entries' list grows and clicks-to-goal can become high af very quickly.

By "single point for everything" I mean that there's only one menu, as tiny (screen-space-wise) as possible, containing hierarchy of options.

What are other options?

What's your opinion on radial menus? I often see them in games and various eye-candies. Radials would solve the overflowed-list problem with classic menus (as radials can have multiple layers of items around the core) and they seem tiny. And I can easily imagine them in touch-enabled devices. How bad are they irl? Are they used in web or just in native apps? What are the trends?

I did my share of research but there's surprisingly little info covering this tool :)

Im fucking fed up with overbloated "all in one" ORMs.

For shit I cant find simple ORM that would literally just do fucking CRUD for me.

Thats all I require for some small project, yet still for few tables I have 2 choices:
a) do it without ORM and write models with raw SQL (which I usually end up doing, as its just more fault tolerant and works better)
b) install overloaded ORM that I wont use even 1% of features

Guys, why the fuck nobody created anything small, tiny and yet usefull? I know my SQL sucks and that is reason I want to use ORM in the first place. But when Im just forced?

Best what I found in terms of ease of use, and beeing not too heavy was RedBeanPHP.

A freaking ORM that will create database on the fly. It's awesome, sure. It's usefull, sure.

BUT STILL ALL I NEED IN SMALL PROJECT IS 1% OF THAT FUNCTIONALITY.

Does literally every single ORM dev want to feel their dick when they list out features list?

There should be allways proper tool for proper job. Its like using symfony for creating onepage website with contact form. WTF.
