How do you deal with a toxic workplace environment. More specifically a senior that don't want to take responsibility and a SM that takes on more a role of a project manager than a scrum master?
Any advice would be great
For context I am a junior but work for nearly 2 years on this project1 -
Any opinions on mock tests how deep should you mock logic of a single component?
I am convinced that you only should shallow mock your components.
However there seems to be some component structures out there that require much deeper mocking2 -
What the fuck, does an EAT even do?!! Other than gaining a salary comparable to a Dev and just sitting in meeting day in day out.
How the fuck can someone work in tech without knowing even the basics of programming12 -
What is your perception of the minimal competency required by a fresh junior developer in both soft-/hardskills?3

Doesn't Python kind of contradict its own mantra. When they write explicit is better than implicit but at the same time they provide collection literals?5

Our UX guy today presented a prototype of a new UI where users can declare an order.
Under the categorie "measuring unit" used to give the specification of mass or volume. He gave the following options
- kg
- litres
- m^3
- m^2
- others (which would allow the user to input anything)
Wtf why do you give the user the option to input anything. So we had to explain to him what SI units are...17 -
How I fucking hate those programmers who say they only can do backend stuff because they don't like front-end work... You godamn pussies, as a programmer you have to be able to adapt to a given projects requirements. If you are not able to do that you are not a real developer in my eyes. So grow a pair and the next time you have the chance to do some frontend work take it, maybe there is someone who in return would like to dable in some backend work for once.13

Isn't pair programming kind of stupid in a workplace environment when you pair a junior and senior?
In that you that you pair someone that would be able to solve the task himself and one that needs still help to solve the task.
Why shouldn't the junior struggle on his own a bit before asking questions?6 -
How are you handling junior/senior relationships, were you are the junior and have the feeling of being a burden on the senior?6

How is your stand on lying to the stakeholders about the project management.
To give context I worked on a research project for the half a year. Had to report yesterday about what I would do differently if I could start over. I responded truthfully and told that since now I know the caviates of the type of project I did, I would do nearly everything differently. Today I received a feedback from my boss that this was an absolute No Go.
I don't understand now what purpose it would serve to lie towards my stakeholders. Can someone clarify this for me thanks5 -
Any thoughts about the practice of body leasing...
I am a undergraduate just entering the market. Personally I see it as the possibility to get to know a lot of different working environments, but I acknowledge that depending on the given situation it can go south real quick.3 -
How are you dealing with imposter syndrom and general self doubt?
More specifically on technical interviews, how do I know if what I am saying is reasonable and not just some gibberish of keywords I picked up over the years...4 -
What are some features of an IDE, which I can not have when using a text editor? More precisely why should I use Visual Studio, instead of VS Code or Atom?5
