As a person who takes a lot of tech interviews everyday, here are a few thoughts
1. You DON’T need to know everything, it’s okay to say you don’t know things. Trust me, we know when you’re lying
2. Rule of thumb, the more the number of questions, the more we like you
3. We don’t mind you saying what you’re thinking when we ask a logical question. It might help us understand your approach to the problem and guide you.
4. Don’t google during telephonic interview, your stutter tells us the truth9 -
Mute your fucking microphones if you have nothing to say. Nobody wants to hear you breathing, your dog, a police car or whatever.16

Writing down your thoughts makes your brain feel free because it doesn't have to keep them inside itself.
It's kinda like talking a huge dump.4 -
I currently have the best problem ever:
Our client applications and APIs are so fast, users are complaining they don't notice that the UI changed in between the time they clicked a button and their eye drifts to the adjacent component. So now we're having to build visual cues to account for that.

"Don't deploy on Friday" is a public admittance that your company either has no CI/CD pipeline, or that all your devs are retarded rhesus monkeys who only wipe their ass if the product manager wrote it as a spec.
If the saying was: "Don't port your whole API to GraphQL on a Friday", or "Don't switch from MySQL to Postgres on a Friday", I would agree.
But you should be able to do simple deploys all the time.
I deployed on Christmas & New Year's eve. I've deployed code while high on LSD, drunk-peeing 2 liters of beer against a tree after a party. I've deployed code from the hospital while my foot was being stitched up. On average, we deploy our main codebase about 194 times a week.
If you can't trust your deploys, maybe instead of posting stupid memes about not deploying on Fridays, you should fix your testing & QA procedures.46 -
Devs: "Accessibility? Not a high priority for now"
Also Devs (in tech conferences): "I can't read, can you please increase the font size?"
"Also, dark mode everywhere please"4 -
Multiple friens asked if I could help someone with her "laptop".
Me: so I hear that you have problems with your laptop?
She: oh yea let me get my laptop.
A minute later she comes back with an iPad mini.
She: I cant get this app to work!
How can they all call that a laptop! *facepalm*9 -
*Website exists*
Client: “I should be rich by now. Please fix.”
Me: “... Did you do any ... marketing?”
Client: “I don’t have money for marketing. That’s what the website is for.”7 -
Feeling blessed, left the army after 5 years, 3 deployments, to attend 3 years of computer science school and get a stable lifestyle.
I've got a supporting girlfriend, mentally never felt better, and for the next 3 years, this is my seat and view in class !
Happy coding all, and have a nice day✌️8 -
Yesterday I won an old Mac mini at work, then I lost it on the bus back home, but got it back today. What a roller coaster of emotions 😅8
