"Where are we going", spotify? When searching for a song, and there is more than 1 match, including same songs on different greatest hits albums, remastered versions, but also remixes, it would be helpful to indicate the differences in any way, instead of ellipses and 6x redundant same line: "Song. Marvin Gaye" - "Where Are We Going? - A..."12

Professor in Programming 1 & 2, 54 years old, divorced, has two kids in our age, golf player
Every time, he came in, we started with the lecture, than he started to talk about politics, greta, the stupid young people, specially the women, always the women. While he was talking to himself or asking us students very personal questions to judge us and recommend how we should do it better, he was talking himself into rage. We never learned something about cs or java longer than 10 minutes, the other long hours he only talked and talked about personal stuff or politics.
One day he asked us about the method of training a dog. You train a dog with pushing his face into his own pee. Than he said with us it is more difficult and that if he would be allwoed he would use methods like this and other very effective stuff on us.
He always starts his emails with
Dear humans
To make fun about gendering.
Another day a student came 1 minute to late, the prof stopped talking became very angry, first he went to a armchair and was sitting there for 15 minutes without saying a word, than he left without a word the room for 30 minutes and when he came back we had to listen to one of his monologues for some hours like usually.
And these are only some samples, he always acted like a little kid, but our university is very poor and i dont think they can effort a better professor for this.9 -

Can't stand it when devs who never bother to do anything / don't pull their weight etc. suddenly come out with:
"Ooh I'm really feeling the imposter syndrome right now, I feel like everyone around me is just leagues ahead of me and I shouldn't be here"
...then wait for everyone to tell them how amazing they are, how they're a critical part of the team etc.
No mate, imposter syndrome is a thing, but so is being a genuine waste of everyone's time. I'm not talking about having bad days, I'm talking about your work output being practically zilch for the past half a year or so because you're "not too familiar with the framework", then going after this pity party approach. As a senior dev, it's kinda insulting to all the great junior and mid level devs who do a better job while being paid considerably less.4 -
Hi everyone,
Over the last couple of days we experienced an issue posting images on devRant posts and comments. This issue should now be fixed.
Apologies for the delay, it to address, it took some digging and we had some alerting that failed that would have helped quickly identify the source of the issue, but unfortunately that part of the alerting wasn't working as expected.
Despite the issue being fixed, there is a bit of additional maintenance that will take place to prevent it from occurring in the future. There could be a couple of minutes of downtime today, March 13 at around 10pm EST, but I'm hoping that can be avoided. I will update in the comments on this rant.
Lastly, and unrelated to this issue, an academic research team has been working on a project involving devRant/types of content posted, and would appreciate feedback and help with a short survey they put together for anyone who is interested: https://devrant.com/rants/3923796/...
Thank you again for the patience and feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
p.s. attached is a relevant meme, according to some people, who thought/hoped this was a feature :)16 -
Why the fuck do people in my dumbfuck country always answer an English yes or no question with fucking OK.
Learn to read you fucking fucktards.
“Did you do X?”
“OK”
Fucking piece of uncommunicating Cthulhu brained fucks.14 -
Facebook really out here copying everyone's features for their own app lmao.
First they stole stories from Snapchat and now they've made their own version of TikTok for Instagram (idk if it's on FB) and called it "Reels."
They're becoming the Apple of social media 🤭🥴20 -
People that comment random subreddits on platforms other than reddit, such as r/whoosh, are the bottom feeders of comedy and are definitely mouth breathers. Probably have a smooth brain too.
That shit's lame asf and not funny at all.13 -
Recipe websites are absolute aids. Either a cancer inducing amount of ads or a twelve page essay for an unnecessary and unwanted backstory. And sometimes you even get both.18

This was just a „you had one job“ moment. I double tapped a rant to give it a ++ and immediately this message appeared. devRant, why do you give me such unnecessary notifications?7

Thanks, YouTube, now you made me install Ad Blocker. The Fucking Youtube's new policy is trash, I already hated YouTube about putting 2 unskippable ads on some videos, now they damn crossed the line.19

"A Google security researcher withdrew from the Black Hat security conference and asked the community to stop using the 'black hat' term."
What the heck? Are we just going to ban the colors white and black in every context? Its clearly not talking about race, its talking about morals... Which people like this "google security researcher" obviously know nothing about...
This is all so stupid... luckily the community disagrees with the stance but then again, afaik, we all also disagreed with removing master/slave and it still happened so make of that what you will...

apparently youtube AI is flagging chess related videos.
because they use terms such as black/white extensively.13 -
Say hello to <name to be determined>.
Apparently it's tradition to ask for naming suggestions so let's hear em.13 -
"The user is only going to see the loading screen for a second anyway".
Tell me more about poor internet connections, Mr. CBD-residing, office-wifi developer. I'm all ears.7 -
THIS JUST IN: American colleges are dedicated to renaming "master's" degrees to "main's" degrees, following GitHub's example7
-
Oh for crying out loud, Github is stopping with the term 'master' due to its 'negative association'.
Can we please not pull everything out of goddamn context and not be a fucking offended special snowflake with ANYTHING that could potentially be thought of in a way that could be associated with slavery?!
If we're gonna do it like this I want to ask people of color not to use white/light themed websites/backgrounds.170 -

fun fact: when the world made the switch to the Gregorian calendar in the 1500's, we lost about 8 years in translation, so technically, this is the year 2012.6
