If you're going to bother to detect that my input is without hyphens, then you can certainly insert them for me too.8
-
Yes you can have hyphens in email addresses, you incompetent nincompoops!!! Just use the standard regex for email validation and stop trying to make your own rules!!!!21

My senior just created this beauty of an API...
Mixing undefined/null values with empty strings & random hyphens for other variables. And the phone number not following standarised notation (we are a telephone provider)6 -
Goddamit I hate it when services advertise how they are about security and then deny me using random readable words with hyphens as passwords.2

Tool for annoyed Android Studio devs:
Dealing with the limitations of Androids Studio when importing large sets of resource files, such as fonts, who don't fit in the limitations(Filenames are uppercase, contain hyphens etc)?
This tiny tool will help you:

Yanno, when I pay $60 for a theme, I get what I get. That's fine. Invariably I end up having to mess with the css. That's fine too.
However, theme makers? Please don't mix hyphens and underscores in your selectors. Decide on a case style. Avoid div-itus.
And for the love of all a selector such as #Top_bar .logo #logo a.logo makes code a pain in the ass to test2 -
If you ever wondered how to write a really bad commit message, here are some of my colleague's...
1. -
2. fixed conflict
3. initail push
4. css fix
5. amends to css
6. footer
And then a ton more hyphens. I wouldn't care as much if the code he wrote actually worked. But when it's down to his colleague's to fix his god awful code, it makes it a tad annoying trying to trawl through useless commit messages trying to find where he dun goofed. /rant7 -
I have to go through roughly 700 data entries and adjust the system's data accordingly ... by hand.😑
We don't have the tools to automate this reliably, the only available tool, tells you that an error occured and what happened but not where. That would've been kinda helpful...
The problem is that the respective data object of the data entry often contains a phone number, which has to be in a standardized format ... which it is not. Every number is formatted in like 10 variations!? A dozen different separators like spaces, commas, slashes and hyphens. And it must be edited manually 😖
My solution: built a goddamn chrome extension to format the string on click. Done. Saves a few seconds each time and a lot of headache in future. Of course given the correctness of the extension.4 -
If you are posting a job and you decide to force candidates to create an account on some third party website just to submit a resume, I hope you only get the least qualified people.2

I hate installing things with pip. It has to be the worst set up for a package installer. About 75% of the time something I'm installing fails and I have to look up why. Coming from npm and yarn where it just works I can't stand the disconnect I get when trying to get into something and I have to configure stuff for the first 3 hours before I can actually do anything.2

file names
full capitalized, spaces in between some, mix of underscores and hyphens depending
but it works when i used them raw as is to be supplied for a path to something
didnt even bother escaping anything
should be a pleasant surprise but was told (reasonably considering the situation) to correct what i received1
