I'm struggling at work. I hate senior mgmt at this company so much it's actually affecting my ability to produce work.
Fuckers high up have been delaying performance reviews for like a year, but they get their fucking bonuses with no delay. I can't afford not to have a job, so I'm trying to work, but it's hard. I try to keep things in perspective that they're still paying me so I should just do my job.. but how do you do it if you hate those cunts at the top so much. I became so toxic because of all the resentment too.5 -
So, while I was hunting for job...waiting for reply to the job I applied. (As now is CNY) , so my friends and I do a little bit of freelancing...
So this business owner wanted an Ewallet app in Kaios. It's possible but he keep complaining that why me and friends so slow and can't deliver in a day. WOW! He said he "Create" software before.
To burst my resentment, I asked him to show us what platform he use for creating application. He showed us "Wix.xom"
Long story short, we dropped the project. Find a new one. -
I currently don't work over 40 hours a week. When I come to work, everyone else is setup in the "war room," however my monitor and laptop are still at my desk (it's quieter with everyone out in the war room).
I have a good work/life balance, and I'm not alone. One of the other employees also refuses to work over 40 hours or on weekends. He has a PhD and teaches classes on the side. We both did at least participate in a Sunday all-day work session to get something to production.
What I'm worried about is resentment. I have taken zero vacation and was going to bank all my time, then in January take it all at once. I was going to ask for 3 weeks of unpaid on top of that so I could get a month and a half off to go south for the winter.
Even though my output has been really good while I've been working, I have a fear of resentment from others who do put in the extra time. We're all salary and none of them get paid overtime except for a one-time bonus for that Sunday I mentioned.3 -
Today I have fixed an issue in 300k usd servers that have been sitting there for almost 6 months... Even the vendor (which is a major company) did not wanna touch them. Nobody knows about it yet but I'm proud of myself but at the same time I feel a big resentment because despite my hard work I will not get to spend the next holiday which is a month from now with my family because all coworker went behind my back to the manager and took a vacation and manager will not even allow a work from home day... 1 single day. That's the only working day that week. But without it I can't go back home because home is 20 hours away... More if I take a connecting flight5

It's our own double standard because of which companies have to enforce a "Don't discuss your salary" clause in the employee handbook.
For example let's say you are a 4 years experienced dev making $50K annually. You hear about a new joiner who has 2 years experience drawing $65K from the company. You will be outraged knowing that, wouldn't you?
The double standard kicks in when the coin is flipped. Now let's say you are 2 years experienced dev making $60K annually. You hear about a new joiner who has 6 years experience drawing a $45K annual salary.
You're not gonna fight with your employer for them to get more salary, are you? If anything, you will be happy to hear that.
When everyone knows how much everyone else is making, it fills them with resentment towards each other. This is why companies make a rule for their employees to never reveal their salaries, because of our own double standard.17 -
Wise people of devrant (yeah, I know, oxymoron) I need your advice. I had a well paying job as a senior FE engineer at a startup but our product became obsolete after the latest AI advances so I was laid off. I've been trying to find something at the same salary I was earning for the past 2 months but I see that it's difficult. Latest attempt was for a team lead position but I failed that. When I failed I saw that the same company opened up a FE Engineer position and I asked if I can apply for that one. Recruiter said that I could but for a salary that's 25% less than my previous one. From this I understood that they like me, but maybe my technical level was too low for team lead. It's kind of a lowball offer and I'm not strapped for cash, but the salary they're offering is still very high for my country. On one hand, I'm dealing with some mental health issues these days so I'd like the reduced stress and responsibilities of a lower level position. On the other hand, I worry that I'll feel resentment and look to move in a year or two. If they gave me 10% more I would be happy and accept. Should I try to negotiate? Should I keep looking?12

I approach programming with a lot of resentment since I am aware that all of us can have MAJOR fucking shifts in the way we do shit from one year to the other.
Let them find out about a different kind of architecture which uses fart propulsion as a form of interpreting machine code and everything becomes absolete.
And then we are only left with FartScript(Oracle TM)
