Stupid idea?

I've been a designer for 10 years now and I'm stuck and bored. So I want to do something against that. I've tried countless times to learn to code on my own and failed. Now I fantasize of going abroad for 3 months. Hire a freelance full stack web developer to teach me 1on1 mo-fri 3-4 hours on how to make webapps. I've read that Kiev, Ukraine is very affordable and on upwork there are some amazing devs from kyiv.

But I'm not sure if that's a dumb idea?
What do you think? Would you teach someone for money? Any tipps on finding a webdev? Are you or do you know someone from Kiev or Ukraine?

My thumb hurts / is exhausted from lots of typing (phone) and writing (school). Any tipps besides seeing a doctor? (I will if this bug isn't fixed 'till friday or so)

It's really strange to me that display servers/window managers (Xorg, Wayland, etc) aren't locked to given desktop environments (GNOME, KDE, Unity, Cinnamon, etc). It doesn't make sense to me that they are separate and not optimized together.

I probably knew I wanted to be a dev/programmer in late highschool. I was fascinated by the underlying structure to what I see on a computer screen, and idolized those who "hacked" as a form of political rebellion.

Now I'm in my senior year in college as a Computer Engineering major because CS was ridiculously competitive at this college. I'm actually quite happy about this, because I feel I know more about computers in general by taking this path rather than CS.

Honestly my biggest rant in the past month hasn't been about code, It's about Windows 10 changing my desktop password to my Microsoft Account. I have certain security pet peeves and it just screams "telemetry"...

Hi, me and my friend want to start programming our first cross platform application. It is called RankIt and is a kind of social media app. Now the problem is, that we both only really know one programming language (me html and him swift); and those two languages don't really help our cause... :)

Does anybody know how show/hide apps in i3 without using the scratchpad?

I have a number of apps running in the background inside the scratchpad that I can show via different keybindigs. But whenever I move something to the scratchpad and want to show it later, I have to cycle through all my other scratchpad windows first.

I couldn't find anything on multiple scratchpads or hiding/showing something without the scratchpad in the internet. Another idea would be to use a workspace for hiding/showing apps but I don't want to list that workspace on i3-bar
