What can be built to solve parking problem in America ? Its really hard to find parking spaces. Especially in downtown areas, either its too expensive and free parkings are hard to find28

Ok, So I am just fed up with these project delivery dates. These are the most irritating aspect of any project.
My current project is already delayed 3 times, because of the optimistic biases of the team lead.
Developers were forced to work over weekends. The QA cycle is taking more time than the dev cycle itself, and it's very irritating waking up with a new bug in the JIRA notifications.
Everytime we reach the delivery dates, there will be multiple bug items on each and everyone's plate that you just can't release the product.
I want to know if anyone feels the same ? How does your management takes care of these delivery dates ?1 -
On a general note, what does a senior developer/manager expects from a fresh out of college junior developer?
Should a fresher play dumb and make his superiors feel even more superior or should he play bold, and display his superpowers in front of senior devs/managers?
What should he ultimately do to be respected more?3 -
If you ++ this post, you will get good developer karma credits for the next 10 years, and every piece of code you write will eventually work.
Trust me this actually works, you can try it yourself.2 -
are most people on devrant jobless? Asking because I never really got time to rant after getting one :p8

Found a very interesting use case of git and github, it seems that even government such as the Washington DC City council uses Git & Github to publish laws! Citizens have even given PRs to fix certain typos through git :p.

I recently built a Mock JSON based REST server, that can help you out with API testing and prototyping without having to write any code for the backend, feel free to try it out, and star the repository if you liked it :)

Hey all devRanters!

I am building mine so need some cool inspiration and ideas.
Extra points if it looks different from the traditional portfolios.10 -
Has it ever happened to you that you don't feel like doing anything at all? And you go in a loop of procrastination and then end up wasting just another day of your life?
I don't know how do I get out of this ...
don't feel I have a passion to do anything in life now 🥺9 -
I wish devRant was also a little fluid to browse, I personally enjoy Twitter a lot, cause the transitions are really smooth and things load pretty quick.
I can understand that this platform is built by a very small team, but I think making this platform open source can help things change quite a lot.
Not only it would help people learn open source contributions, but it would also help improve the platform as a whole.
A community of developers building a community 'for' developers would go a long way in the future.1 -
Well it's not exactly a startup idea but something that I and my team built during my first-ever hackathon.
The theme was to build some tools for developers to improve their speed and be more productive.
In our team we were some bunch of students who just knew how to build a basic front end and a little bit of backend and we came up with an application that lets developer query any command line shortcut through his voice and the website will return the keyboard shortcut for that. For example the developer can ask what is the shortcut for splitting the view into two halves in vs code and the website will look it up in database and give back the shortcut
Now when I look back it feels so funny. I still remember that the judges gave us a funny look but they appreciated our efforts as we were too young to be there.. lol
btw If anyone is curious about the project it is present here ..

Does anyone remember these? I would navigate to search just to see these characters perform different animations and movements
What a wonderful time it was🥺7 -
Is it just me or devrant has a bug of showing false notification badge?
It's stuck on this number even though I don't have any new notifications5 -
A question to all experienced developers!
What is that one thing or advice that you would like to give to your past self when you just started programming ?15 -
Have you ever seen a tree data structure implementation in any code base?
I wonder why recruiters are so desperately asking how to invert binary trees in my coding interviews🥴4 -
The countdown for Hacktoberfest has started, the only difference is that this time you can opt-out of taking the Hacktober fest tshirt and help plant a tree instead.2

Node: Will you go out on a date with me ?
JavaScript: Where?
Node: Outside the browser.
JavaScript and Node lived together happily ever after.

Node: What is wrong with you? Why don’t you let me EXPRESS my feeling?
JavaScript: Stop overREACTing.
Node: You never want to understand my point of Vue.14
