Project Cortana: Day 1
I have seen a lot of people switching to Linux or other services to get away from all the data collections. It makes a lot of sense as no one would want their data to be sold without their consent.
But I am going to do something different. My aim is to integrate with Microsoft apps as much as possible and review the experience. So here is what I have done so far:
* Use Cortana in desktop and mobile (Android)
* Use Microsoft launcher in mobile
* Outlook as primary email provider (I was already using them as my default provider)
* Use Microsoft To-Do and calendar to keep track of things
* Use OneDrive to store all my files (I am moving them from Google Drive)
* Use the default Mail app on the Windows 10
* Use Onenote (I was using Evernote before)
* Use Edge on desktop and Mobile
* Use Skype instead of Hangouts
It's day one but I think I have already found it quite useful. For example:
* Adding reminder is much easier. I get them on both desktop and mobile which is nice.
* Mail app has been really useful. Especially the focused inbox really helps to get rid of the clutters. Also, I can immediately add a mail to the calendar (like Inbox by Google) which is really helpful.
* One of the features of edge that I have found really useful is that you can send web pages from mobile to desktop in one tap. That is extremely useful.
So far I am loving it.
Also, I tried to make sure that I am not sharing my data with third-party apps as I have turned off "relevant ads" feature.43 -
Notice :
Citizens are advised to store all their passwords into either text files or Google Keep, OneNote, Evernote so that it would come in handy whenever you forget the Password.
Please share this among your family and friends.
Have a nice day :)11 -
It's 21:42. I had 1 month to write a report on my internship. Day after tomorrow is submission. I'm starting now.
I deleted Facebook Inc.'s products long time ago, deleted YouTube app, removed Quora account, put filters on suggestions for Stack Exchange networks, blocked Reddit, stopped Spotify, started Trello/Wunderlist/Evernote to organise thoughts, ForestApp and StayFocusd for controlled browsing, deleted Tumblr etc. All this just to focus on the report and get it done as soon as possible.
Now I FOUND devRant! What the fuck world! Why!? I'm now ranting about issue on devRant with this rant. <- this sentence is a meta, if you didn't realise.9 -
Instead of using OneNote, Evernote, etc I'm thinking of using a git repo where I would write notes, save bookmarks, links, information, everything with markdown.22

Hey Guys
A few Questions I have to decide soon, for tools I never used:
1- How do you guys keep information about several accounts and stuff? Must have some protection to not be easily accessible (started using Google Notepad and Evernote until I find better... don't really like them)
2- Firefox: Is there a way to store groups of open tabs?
Like I have one windows with 6 or 7 tabs for movies (youtube and such), other for general stuff with 5 or 6 tabs, other with Arduino shit, and I'm going to pick Vue soon and another language to build native apps and that will be a lot more tabs, It would be nice to close them all and open them all at will or something.
3 - What Is your favorite browser? I'm using Firefox, but there are so many new good ones... Like Brave browser with Tor incorporated, or Puffin for Android (which uses a VPN with their own server by default)
4 - For windows users, do you have any tools to help with workflow installed? which ones you use and why?
5 - What I'm using: Google Notepad + Evernote to save stuff, Windows 10 and Firefox, (Linux Mint in VM) and I just keep my shortcuts in folders... I don't use the Windows taskbar for a long while since its so full of shit.
6 - How do you do your backups? Right now I'm just putting my code and important stuff in Dropbox.
I'm an old school programmer... Stuck in 1990's Ideas and there is so muchhhh shit these days that I would prefer your opinions then just googling.
Guess that's enough for this post. Thank you guys28 -

I'm starting to be really, idk, crazy, but I just can't find anything similar to OneNote, but with SYNC option, for Android and Linux. What do you guys recommend. Already tried Evernote but it's two-devices only limit in free version, nah.3 -
I hate it when apps I enjoy get no love or updates after being acquired by a bigger company. Why did you buy them in the first place? Skitch still cannot support Unicode cause Evernote doesn't care :-(3

# NEED SUGGESTIONS
I am working on a secure end to end encrypted note taking web application. I am the sole developer and working on weekends and will make it open source.
The contents you save will be end to end encrypted, and server won't save the key, so even I can't read or NSA or CIA.
So I wanted to know if the idea is good? There are lot of traditional note sharing apps like Google Keep and Evernote. But they store your stuff in plaintext. So as a user will u switch to this secure solution?14 -
How do you guys organize/save your codes, snippets, hints etc?
I already tried .txt file, bitbucket snippets, evernote6 -

Anybody else here code from their smartphone? When I'm afk I type ideas into Evernote (slowly, of course), but I'd love a good mobile IDE.3 -
While preparing for a PM workshop, I spent more than an hour looking for a good sketboard, mindmapping or notes taking tool. Well I am not regretting.
I have found Joplin. It's amazing. Really appreciate and impressed that there are Developers making such awesome apps. 😍🤩😍2 -
So, what are your most favorite methods of saving interesting articles about algorithms, functions or simply news so you can read them later when you have time? I find myself storing links to interesting web pages without really going back to them or remembering which link was what. I shifted to storing the links in evernote but it's still not what I'd ideally like to have...
If there are any recommended routines, apps or tools that make stored links insightful (like allowing me to add a quick description or automatically adding a sort of preview of the link), I would appreciate it!
Please note that this is primarily about saving a resource while I'm on the go or simply can't/don't want to spend too much time on the actions.17 -
ORG Mode for Emacs - Best note taking application ever.
Does anybody else find it better than Evernote, oneNote like I do too ?5 -
How do you guys separate your working environments for different projects?
My situation is that I have one gaming project which requires having Windows OS (for testing purposes since can't run that game on Linux or Mac OS)
Then I have 2-3 other projects (freelancing/fulltime gigs) which don't require Windows so I use macbook for them.
Then I have other projects for my freetime (self development and stuff) and also need an environment just to be able not to work and chill instead
I tried separating these concerns with using tools such as evernote, trello and etc. but it's really getting out of hand.
Using different users for Win/Mac is not an option since I dont want to be switching between different users all the time.
Should I consider using some VM's to have my working environments for different projects separate? Will I use performance when using these VM's?
Buying 5 laptops just to separate everything doesnt make sense as well.6 -
Any suggestions for a Trello like app / software which I can use to track my personal schedule ?
A ToDo list like Evernote or Google Keep is just not good enough.6 -
An important query, it would be of great help if someone could help me with this.
I am working on a project which requires real-time updation of content on the client and server- much like evernote or google keep- I should be able to update the server with the changes made to the app and vice versa, real-time.
I have seen sync adapter, but it is asynchronous and thus, non real-time. Other option is using an IntentService, as given on android dev site.
Is there any other thing I can do to achieve the goal?
Thanks in advance
